Manuel Jiménez Ramírez (9 June 1919 – 4 March 2005) was a Mexican carver, sculptor and painter credited as the originator of the Oaxacan version of “alebrijes,” animal creatures carved in wood and painted in strong contrasting colours with intricate designs. He was a charismatic and philosophical person, who believed he was the reincarnation of an artist. He began making animal figures of clay when he was a child but changed to wood carving later, creating human figures, nativity scenes, masks and more as well as the alebrijes. His work can be found in public and private collections in various parts of the world, especially in the United States. Manuel José Jimenes González (January 14, 1808December 22, 1854) was a military figure and politician in the Dominican Republic. He served as the second President of the Dominican Republic from September 8, 1848, until May 29, 1849. Prior to that he served as the country's Minister of War and Marine Affairs. Early years Jimenes was born on January 14, 1808, in Baracoa, Guantanamo, Cuba to Juan Jimenes and Altagracia González, Dominican exiles in Cuba because of Toussaint Louverture’s occupation of Santo Domingo (nowadays the Dominican Republic) and the subsequent wars in the context of the Napoleonic Wars. Manuel Enrique Jiménez Abalo (born 27 October 1956) is a Spanish retired footballer who played as a central defender. Club career Jiménez was born in Vilagarcía de Arousa, Province of Pontevedra, Galicia. During his professional career, he played for Sporting de Gijón and Real Burgos CF. He spent 12 of his 13 seasons with the Asturias club, appearing in nearly 500 official matches – he never played less than 30 games in La Liga, and helped the team to the fourth place in the 1986–87 campaign after contributing 43 appearances (3,870 minutes). With Burgos, in his final season, Jiménez played all the matches and minutes, and the modest Castile and León side retained their top-division status while posting the eighth-best defensive record in the league. He started in the Benidorm CD coaching youth football. His big break came in the Hércules CF. Got promoted to La Liga in 1995–96. Manuel 'Manolo' Jiménez Jiménez (; born 26 January 1964) is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a left-back, currently manager of Emirati club Al Wahda.
