Manning Passing Academy
The Manning Passing Academy is a four-day American football clinic held annually at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana. Held in the summer, it is hosted by the Manning family (Archie, Cooper, Peyton, Eli) and several current and former National Football League (NFL) and college football players and coaches. It is designed to coach four different positions: quarterback, running back, wide receiver and tight end. The camp was originally founded in 1996 by Archie Manning at Tulane University and has also been held at Southeastern Louisiana University. In 2005, the camp moved to the campus of Nicholls State University. Eligibility Due to NCAA rules, all attendees must be between the ages of those entering the eighth grade and seniors-to-be in high school. High school graduates are not allowed to attend. American Football
American football (referred to simply as football in the United States and Canada), also known as gridiron, is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. The offense, the team with possession of the oval-shaped football, attempts to advance down the field by running with the ball or passing it, while the defense, the team without possession of the ball, aims to stop the offense's advance and to take control of the ball for themselves. Stopher Gymnasium
David R. Stopher Gymnasium or Stopher Gym is a 3,800-seat multi-purpose arena in Thibodaux, Louisiana, United States, on the campus Nicholls State University. It is named for David R. Stopher. It is home to the Nicholls Colonels men's and women's basketball teams and women's volleyball team. It hosts many other functions including Nicholls' commencement, Manning Passing Academy and a variety of concerts and community events. History The first game in Stopher Gymnasium was in 1970. After the 2013–2014 season, the gymnasium was renovated over several years. The men's basketball locker room and offices were overhauled and redesigned. The Nicholls Colonels football program is the intercollegiate American football team for Nicholls State University located in Thibodaux, Louisiana, United States. The team competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) and are members of the Southland Conference. Nicholls' first football team was fielded in 1972. Manning Field At John L
Manning (a.k.a. Mannion, Manning) is a family name. Origin and meaning Manning is from an old Norse word — manningi — meaning a brave or valiant man; and one of the first forms of the name was Mannin; another cartography was Mannygn. Tight End
The tight end (TE) is a position in American football, arena football, and Canadian football, on the offense. The tight end is often a hybrid position with the characteristics and roles of both an offensive lineman and a wide receiver. Like offensive linemen, they are usually lined up on the offensive line and are large enough to be effective blockers. On the other hand, unlike offensive linemen, they are eligible receivers adept enough to warrant a defense's attention when running pass patterns. Because of the hybrid nature of the position, the tight end's role in any given offense depends on the tactical preferences and philosophy of the head coach as well as overall team dynamic. Nicholls State University is a public university in Thibodaux, Louisiana. Founded in 1948, Nicholls is part of the University of Louisiana System. Originally named Francis T. Nicholls Junior College, the university is named for Francis T. Nicholls, a former governor of Louisiana, member of the Louisiana Supreme Court, and general in the Confederate army during the civil war.
