Mankavu
Mankavu is a suburb of Kozhikode, in Kerala, India. It is known as the site of the Zamorin's kovilakam and it is called Mankavu Padinhare Kovilakam. Mankavu derives its name from the Zamorin's Mango Orchard that was in the area some historic records says that earlier was known as "Manavikraman kavu" and got shortened into "Mankave" . The community is primarily residential, and is a common residential location for students from the local Zamorin's Guruvayurappan College. Krishna Varma and Ravi Varma, famous rebels of Calicut were born and brought up in Mankavu. Mankavu Road, a major thoroughfare in Kozhikode is named after this area. Actual Mankavu is situated on the left of the bypass road towards Tirur. It is predominantly inhabited by Muslims near the bypass road side and Hindus, which include few Brahmin families around the Thrissala Bhagavathy Kshethram, beyond the Kalpaka Theatre, a known spot in Mankavu. Thalikkunu Shiva Temple
Thalikkunu Shiva Temple dedicated to Shiva, is situated in Mankave, Kozhikode, Kerala, India. History Thalikkunu Shiva Temple is one of the oldest temples of Malabar. This temple has been attacked many times. Currently the Temple is under His Highness Zamorin of Calicut.. Kottooli And Pottammal
Kottooly and Pottammal are two nearby junctions on the eastern side of Kozhikode city in India. They are at a distance of 650 meters. The Mavoor Road originates from Mananchira area in downtown Calicut and proceeds to Arayidathu-palam junction through the KSRTC bus station and the new bus station areas. Kottooly Junction After Arayidathupalam, Kottooly is the main junction where the road to the north is called K.T.Gopalan Road which connects to Vellimadukunnu area. Ravi Varma Of Padinjare Kovilakam
Ravi Varma Raja (1745–1793) was a Samantan Nair warrior prince of the Royal House of Zamorins from Calicut who fought a two-decade long revolt against the Mysore Sultanate under Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan between 1766–1768 and 1774–1791, and later the British East India Company in 1793.
