Manitoba Tuck
The Manitoba tuck is a form of slide in curling. A tuck under is when the curler's front toe is the only part of the slider that comes into contact with the ice as the heel is raised. While the slide is most commonly found in the province of Manitoba, it is a technique used by curlers around the world. Prominent historical curlers include Kerry Burtnyk, Don Duguid, Barry Fry, Vic Peters, and Jeff Stoughton. Historically, Duguid was one of the first to perfect the tuck delivery and began practicing it when he was 9 years old back in the mid 1940s. Tuck sliders may slide with a flat broom or use another delivery aid like a corn broom when sliding. Curling Canada
Curling Canada (formerly the Canadian Curling Association (CCA)) is a sanctioning body for the sport of Curling in Canada. It is associated with more than a dozen provincial and territorial curling associations across the country, and organizes Canada's national championships in the sport. It was formed in 1990 by the merger of the two previous sanctioning bodies, Curl Canada (men's) and the Canadian Ladies' Curling Association (women's). Kate Hogan (curler)
Katherine Hogan (born October 22, 1991 as Katherine Cameron) is a Canadian curler from New Bothwell, Manitoba. She currently plays third on Team Casey Scheidegger. Career In 2008 Hogan skipped a team to win the U16 Provincial Championship. The team included Nicole Sigvaldason, Sheyna Andries and Emily Helston. In 2010 Hogan lost the junior provincial final to Breanne Meakin. Hogan's team included Nicole Sigvaldason, Sheyna Andries and Kelsey Hinds. In 2012 again Hogan lost the junior provincial final to Shannon Birchard. Hogan threw last stones for Team Vandepoele, the team included skip, Alyssa Vandepoele, Abby Ackland and Sheyna Andries. Niklas Edin
Johan Niklas Edin (born 6 July 1985) is a Swedish curler. He currently resides in Karlstad, which has been his curling home base since 2008. He holds several sport distinctions. He is the first and the only skip in World Curling Federation (WCF) history to win three Olympic medals – gold (2022), silver (2018), and bronze (2014) – and to skip men's curling teams to six World Men's Curling Championship medals (2013, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022). He is also a seven-time European Curling Championship titleholder (2009, 2012, 2014–2017, 2019) and also won three silver medals in those championships (2011, 2018, 2021). Matt Dunstone
Matthew Dunstone, nicknamed "the Sheriff" (born June 25, 1995) is a Canadian curler from Kamloops, British Columbia. Career Dunstone won the Canadian Junior Curling Championships in 2013. He represented Canada at the 2013 World Junior Curling Championships, where he won the bronze medal. He was unable to defend his championship at the 2014 Canadian Juniors after losing in the finals of the Manitoba Canola Juniors to Braden Calvert. The next time he would represent Manitoba was in 2016, after winning the 2016 Manitoba Canola Juniors. This earned the Dunstone rink a spot in the 2016 Canadian Juniors where he won his second title after defeating Northern Ontario 11-4 in the final, and represented Canada at the 2016 World Junior Curling Championships, winning a bronze medal. Jason Gunnlaugson
Jason Gunnlaugson is a Canadian curler currently living in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Gunnlaugson is known for having been hired by the Russian Curling Federation (RCF) to represent the country at the 2014 Winter Olympics. The deal which was announced in April 2010 fell through in November that year, when the Gunnlaugson team was fired by the RCF. Career Prior to his deal to play for Russia, Gunnlaugson had skipped his team out of Beausejour, Manitoba. In 2009, Gunnlaugson took over the reins of Daley Peters's team when Peters left the team to curl with his father Vic Peters. Ryan Bennett Fry (born July 25, 1978) is a Canadian curler currently living in Toronto and playing third on the Mike McEwen team. He previously played third for Team Brad Jacobs, and the team represented Canada and won the gold medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics. The team also won the 2013 Tim Hortons Brier. Mike McEwen (curler)
Michael McEwen (born July 30, 1980 in Brandon, Manitoba) is a Canadian curler from Winnipeg, Manitoba, who grew up in Brandon, Manitoba. McEwen won six Grand Slams in his career before his team qualified for their first Brier, Canada's national championship in 2016. He is noted as one of the top curlers using the Manitoba tuck delivery today. Career Early career In 1998, McEwen won his first of two Manitoba Junior championships, sending him and his team of David Chalmers, Bryce Granger and Kevin Schmidt to the 1998 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. Curling
Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called ''rocks'', across the ice ''curling sheet'' toward the ''house'', a circular target marked on the ice. Each team has eight stones, with each player throwing two. The purpose is to accumulate the highest score for a ''game''; points are scored for the stones resting closest to the centre of the house at the conclusion of each ''end'', which is completed when both teams have thrown all of their stones once. Jeff Stoughton
Jeffrey R. "Jeff" Stoughton (born July 26, 1963) is a Canadian retired curler. He is a three-time Brier champion and two-time World champion as skip. Stoughton retired from competitive curling in 2015. He is one of the most successful Manitoba skips in curling history, and one of the most successful players in Canadian curling history. He is currently the National Men's Coach and Program Manager for Curling Canada, as well as being the head coach of the Canadian Mixed Doubles National Team. Career Stoughton's first national championship came in 1988 when he won the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship. Vic Peters
Victor Alvin "Vic" Peters (March 24, 1955 – March 27, 2016) was a Canadian curler who was a three-time Manitoba curling champion, and one-time national champion as winner of the 1992 Labatt Brier. Peters was once considered a member of Manitoba's "Big Three", which consisted of himself, Kerry Burtnyk and Jeff Stoughton. These teams dominated curling in Canada and the world during the 1990s, winning four Labatt Briers and two world championships. Peters was noted for his tuck delivery alongside Burtnyk and Stoughton. Career Peters won his first and only national championship on his first visit to the Brier in 1992. This earned him a trip to the World Curling Championships in Germany where his team finished third. Peters team won the national championship under the traditional curling rules, but in Europe they played under the 4-rock free guard zone rule.
