Manitoba Highway 68
Manitoba Provincial Highway 68 (PTH 68) is an east-west provincial highway in the central region of Manitoba, Canada. PTH 68 starts at PTH 5 east of Ste. Rose Du Lac and terminates at PTH 8 south of Riverton. Between the eastern junction with PTH 6 at Eriksdale and its western terminus, the highway is part of the Northern Woods and Water Route. The most notable portion of PTH 68 is the bridge over Lake Manitoba at The Narrows. History PTH 68 first appeared on the 1952 Manitoba Highway Map. Department Of Infrastructure (Manitoba)
Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure () is the provincial government department responsible for managing infrastructure in Manitoba. It is in charge of "the development of transportation policy and legislation, and fthe management of the province’s vast infrastructure network." Manitoba Infrastructure was initially known as Public Works, which changed to Government Services in 1968, when the province expanded the department to include the provision of common services for other governmental departments. In 2016, the department name would be changed to its current one. The department operates under the oversight of the Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure (), currently Doyle Piwniuk, who was appointed to the portfolio on 18 January 2022 by the Progressive Conservative government of Heather Stefanson. Manitoba Highway 5
Provincial Trunk Highway 5 (PTH 5) is a provincial primary highway located in the Canadian province of Manitoba. The highway starts at the Hansboro–Cartwright Border Crossing on the Canada–United States border and ends at the Saskatchewan boundary west of Roblin. Besides Roblin, it passes through the communities of Cartwright, Glenboro, Carberry, Neepawa, McCreary, Ste. Rose Du Lac, Grandview, and Gilbert Plains along its route. The highway, in a section concurrent with PTH 10, bypasses the City of Dauphin. (PTH 5A / 10A does run through Dauphin.) The segment of PTH 5 between PTH 10 and Ste. Rose Du Lac is part of the Northern Woods and Water Route. Further south, PTH 5 is also the main route through Spruce Woods Provincial Park between Glenboro and Carberry. PTH 5, along with PTH 20 and PTH 50, has the distinction of being both a north-south and an east-west highway, though PTH 20 is officially designated north-south for its entire route. Dog Creek Indian Reserve
The Stswecem'c Xgat'tem First Nation, formerly known as Canoe Creek Band/Dog Creek Indian Band, created as a result of merger of the Canoe Creek Band and Dog Creek Band is a First Nations government of the Secwepemc (Shuswap) Nation, located in the Fraser Canyon-Cariboo region of the Central Interior of the Canadian province of British Columbia. It was created when the government of the then-Colony of British Columbia established an Indian reserve system in the 1860s. It is a member government of the Northern Shuswap Tribal Council. The territory of the band spans the Fraser River and is around the basins of Dog Creek, across from Gang Ranch, and Canoe Creek to the east of the river, and its canyon in between.
