Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure () is the provincial government department responsible for managing infrastructure in Manitoba. It is in charge of "the development of transportation policy and legislation, and fthe management of the province’s vast infrastructure network." Pipestone, Manitoba
Pipestone, Manitoba is a community in southwestern Manitoba, Canada. Located at the corner of highways 2 and 83, Pipestone is approximately 35 km from either Virden or Melita, approximately to the United States border and approximately to the Saskatchewan border. It is mainly an agricultural area with some oil drilling nearby. Pipestone is part of the Rural Municipality of Pipestone. The office for the municipality is located in Reston, approximately 10 kilometers west on Highway 2. It was the birthplace of John Hamilton Roberts, who commanded the landing forces in the Dieppe Raid in 1942. There is an amateur video of a large destructive tornado that passed through farm fields near Pipestone on June 23, 2007, and another on July 23, 2008. An oil spill the size of two football fields was discovered near Pipestone in January 2012. More than 100,000 litres of oil seeped into surrounding farmland as a result of a broken pipe. Provincial Trunk Highway 11 (PTH 11) is a provincial primary highway located in the Eastman Region of the Canadian province of Manitoba. It runs from an intersection with PTH 59 near Victoria Beach to an intersection with PTH 1. Route description PTH 11 begins at an intersection with PTH 1 (Trans-Canada Highway) in the hamlet of Hadashville, located in the Rural Municipality of Reynolds. The highway heads north through the hamlet, running parallel to the western banks of the Whitemouth River, eventually leaving and traveling just to the west of Medika and Reynolds, having intersections with PR 507 and PR 506, before crossing into the Rural Municipality of Whitemouth. It runs from the Lancaster-Tolstoi Border Crossing (where it meets with U.S. Highway 59), through the city of Winnipeg, north to 8th Avenue in Victoria Beach on Lake Winnipeg. Route description PTH 59 is a four-lane at-grade expressway from Provincial Road 210 south of Île-des-Chênes, through Winnipeg, to the Brokenhead Ojibway Nation, except for a two-kilometre section of six-lane road between the North Perimeter Highway (PTH 101) and Provincial Road 202. Grand Beach is a freshwater beach located within the Rural Municipality of St. Clements on the eastern shore of Lake Winnipeg in Manitoba, Canada. It is located on the northern edge of the town of Grand Marais, Manitoba. Grand Beach is on the historic La Vérendrye Trail . History Founded by homesteaders, it was home to a substantial community of Métis, who were the only settlers until the Canadian Northern Railway built its line and set up the resort along the Grand Beach in 1917. After it was made accessible by the railway, it became a very popular resort for Manitobans. In the early days, the grandest building in the resort was the Dance Pavilion, built in 1918 and rated by some as the largest dance hall of its time in the Commonwealth, but it was destroyed in a fire that began at 11 am on September 5, 1950. Beausejour () is a town in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It is 46 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg, just west of the Canadian Shield and Whiteshell Provincial Park. The French name means "beautiful stay". The town is surrounded by the Rural Municipality of Brokenhead. Originally known as Stony Prairie, Beausejour was named in 1877 by Mrs H.W.D. Virden is a town in southwestern Manitoba, Canada. Oil was first discovered in 1951, and Virden has since come to be known as the "Oil Capital of Manitoba". History Virden has its roots as a farming community known as Gopher Creek. Melita () is a town located in the south-western corner of the Canadian province of Manitoba. It is surrounded by the Municipality of Two Borders and occupies a bend of the Souris River. Graham Creek runs along the west side of town and into the Souris River. The population at the 2016 census was 1,042.
