Provincial Trunk Highway 19 (PTH 19) is a short east-west provincial highway in the west-central region of the Canadian province of Manitoba. Riding Mountain National Park
Riding Mountain National Park is a national park in Manitoba, Canada. The park is located within Treaty 2 Territory and sits atop the Manitoba Escarpment. Consisting of a protected area , the forested parkland stands in sharp contrast to the surrounding prairie farmland. It was designated a national park because it protects three different ecosystems that converge in the area; grasslands, upland boreal and eastern deciduous forests. It is most easily reached by Manitoba Highway 10, Highway 10 which passes through the park. The south entrance is at the townsite of Wasagaming, Manitoba, Wasagaming, which is the only commercial centre within the park boundaries. The Municipality of McCreary is a rural municipality (RM) in the Parkland Region of Manitoba, Canada. Geographically located between Riding Mountain National Park and Lake Manitoba, the majority of the municipal lands are within the drainage basin of the Turtle River. It is the self-proclaimed "Ski and Maple Syrup Capital of Manitoba." History The RM was incorporated on January 1, 2015 via the amalgamation of the RM of McCreary and the Village of McCreary. Manitoba Highway 5
Provincial Trunk Highway 5 (PTH 5) is a provincial primary highway located in the Canadian province of Manitoba. The highway starts at the Hansboro–Cartwright Border Crossing on the Canada–United States border and ends at the Saskatchewan boundary west of Roblin. Besides Roblin, it passes through the communities of Cartwright, Glenboro, Carberry, Neepawa, McCreary, Ste. Rose Du Lac, Grandview, and Gilbert Plains along its route. The highway, in a section concurrent with PTH 10, bypasses the City of Dauphin. (PTH 5A / 10A does run through Dauphin.) The segment of PTH 5 between PTH 10 and Ste. Provincial Trunk Highway 10 (PTH 10) is a provincial primary highway located in the Canadian province of Manitoba. PTH 10 begins at the International Peace Garden along the Canada–United States border near Boissevain. The highway runs north through Brandon, Dauphin, Swan River, and The Pas to the Saskatchewan boundary at Flin Flon. The speed limit is 100 km/h. PTH 10 is designated as the John Bracken Highway between the International Peace Garden and Riding Mountain National Park, and the Northern Woods and Water Route between Dauphin and The Pas. The highway also serves as the main route through Riding Mountain National Park. At in length, PTH 10 is currently the longest highway in the province. Wasagaming (also known as Clear Lake) is the main townsite in the popular tourist destination Riding Mountain National Park in Manitoba, Canada. It is located at the south gate of Riding Mountain National Park along Highway 10. This townsite is north of Brandon. It lies on the south shores of Clear Lake which is the largest lake in Riding Mountain National Park. Overview Wasagaming is an unincorporated townsite. Riding Mountain Park East Gate Registration Complex
The Riding Mountain Park East Gate Registration Complex north of Brandon, Manitoba, is the only surviving gate structure of the three built at the entrances to Canada's Riding Mountain National Park. Three gate complexes were built: the South Entrance (1931), the East Entrance (1933) and the North Entrance (1936), in the rustic style prevailing at the time in North American national parks. The main entrance gate, located along PTH 19, comprises two log and stone pavilions, one on each side of the road, topped by cupolas from which a roofed sign spans the highway between them. The construction of the gate and what was then called Norgate Road was carried out by local workers hired through the government's Depression Relief Program. Besides the gate structure, the designated area includes the Whirlpool Warden's Station and a gatekeeper's residence.
