Mandwa is a village in Raigad district, Maharashtra, India. It is popular as a weekend beach destination from Mumbai city, mainly because of the direct Ferry services available near Mandwa Beach to and from Mumbai. In movies, Mandwa has been popularized by Amitabh and Hrithik's Agneepath series respectively. Transport Mandwa serves as the changeover point for Ferry services from the state capital of Mumbai and buses bound for the district headquarters at Alibag. It is close to Kihim beach. Mandwa beach lies 6 kilometers from Rewas and close to Mandawa town. In 2011, the Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB), proposed to run roll on roll off (RORO) services from Ferry Wharf to Mandwa. Water transport in Mumbai consists of ferries, hovercraft and catamarans. Proposals to start more water services were initially mooted in the 1990s but were held up due to legal issues. ''Agneepath'' (, ) is a 1990 Indian Hindi-language action crime film directed by Mukul Anand and written jointly by Santosh Saroj and Kader Khan. It stars Amitabh Bachchan as Vijay, a man who sets out to avenge the death of his father and injustices done to his family by joining the Mumbai underworld. The film was inspired by the life of a Mumbai gangster Manya Surve. Rewas (Rewas-Bodani or Revas) is one of 48 “minor” ports of Maharashtra located at Rewas Creek, near Karanja creek at mouth of the Patalganga River about southward of Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) and south-east of Mumbai Port.
