Mandalay International Airport
Mandalay International Airport ( my, မန္တလေး အပြည်ပြည်ဆိုင်ရာ လေဆိပ်; ), located 35 km south of Mandalay in Tada-U, is one of three international airports in Myanmar. Completed in 1999, it was the largest and most modern airport in the country until the modernization of Yangon International Airport in 2008. The airport connects 11 domestic and seven international destinations. Its runway is the longest runway in use in Southeast Asia and has the capacity to handle up to 3 million passengers a year. The airport is the main operating base of Golden Myanmar Airlines. Mandalay
Mandalay ( or ; ) is the second-largest city in Myanmar, after Yangon. Located on the east bank of the Irrawaddy River, 631km (392 miles) (Road Distance) north of Yangon, the city has a population of 1,225,553 (2014 census). Mandalay was founded in 1857 by King Mindon, replacing Amarapura as the new royal capital of the Konbaung dynasty. It was Burma's final royal capital before the kingdom's annexation by the British Empire in 1885. Under British rule, Mandalay remained commercially and culturally important despite the rise of Yangon, the new capital of British Burma. Naypyidaw International Airport officially spelled Nay Pyi Taw , ( my, နေပြည်တော် အပြည်ပြည်ဆိုင်ရာ လေဆိပ်; previously known as Ela Airport), is located 16 kilometres (10 mi) southeast of Naypyidaw, the capital of Myanmar. Myitkyina Airport
Myitkyina Airport is an airport in Myitkyina, Myanmar . Airlines and destinations History Built before World War II as Myitkyina Airfield, the airfield was captured by the Imperial Japanese Army on 8 May 1942 during the Japanese conquest of Burma. During the occupation, it was used by the Japanese Air Force as a fighter base, attacking Allied aircraft flying "the Hump" transport supply missions between India and China. The airfield was attacked on numerous missions by Tenth Air Force and Royal Air Force fighter and bombers until it was captured by Merrill's Marauders (officially named the 6th Ranger Battalion-5307th Composite Unit (provisional)) on 17 May 1944, but fighting continued in Myitkyina town until August 1944. Heho Airport ( my, ဟဲဟိုးလေဆိပ်) is an airport serving Heho, a town in Kalaw Township, Taunggyi District, Shan State, Myanmar. Bhamo Airport is an airport serving Bhamo (Banmaw), a city in the Kachin State in northern Myanmar. It is also known as Banmaw Airport. History Built as a Japanese Air Force base in 1942, the airport was attacked numerous times by Allied forces before being seized in May 1945. It was repaired by the 1891st Engineer Aviation Battalion then was used as a combat resupply and casualty evacuation airfield by Tenth Air Force, which moved elements of the 1st Combat Cargo Group to the field. Air KBZ ( my, အဲကေဘီဇက်) is a privately owned domestic Myanmar airline based in Yangon. Air Kanbawza, otherwise known as AIR KBZ, was established in June 2010. The airline began operations with a Yangon- Bagan- Nyaung Oo- Mandalay-Heho-Yangon flight on 2 April 2019. In 2015 Air KBZ began codesharing international flights with its partner Myanmar Airways International, but on 2 December 2016 Air KBZ itself expanded internationally, launching its first scheduled service outside Myanmar with flights connecting Yangon and Chiang Mai in neighboring Thailand. Changsha Huanghua International Airport is the airport serving Changsha, the capital of Hunan province, China, and the Greater Changsha Metropolitan Region comprising the nearby cities of Zhuzhou and Xiangtan.
