''Man with a Red Hat'' is a tempera on panel painting attributed to Italian Renaissance painter Vittore Carpaccio, created around 1490–1493. It is housed in the Museo Correr in Venice. Description The attribution to Carpaccio is disputed. Bartolomeo Montagna and Lorenzo Lotto have been also proposed as artists responsible for the piece, while others have assigned it to an unknown master from Ferrara Ferrara (, ; egl, Fràra ) is a city and ''comune'' in Emilia-Romagna, northern Italy, capital of the Province of Ferrara. it had 132,009 inhabitants. ''Portrait of a Man in a Red Hat'' is a 1465–1470 oil on oak panel painting by Hans Memling, one of the first portraits he produced in Bruges, with similarities to his '' Portrait of a Man'' - its subject is unknown. Bartolomeo Montagna
Bartolomeo (or Bartolommeo) Montagna (, , ; 1450?– 11 October 1523) was an Italians, Italian Renaissance painter who mainly worked in Vicenza. He also produced works in Venice, Verona, and Padua. He is most famous for his many Madonna (art), Madonnas and his works are known for their soft figures and depiction of eccentric marble architecture. He is considered to be heavily influenced by Giovanni Bellini, in whose workshop he might have worked around 1470. Benedetto Montagna, a productive engraver, was his son and pupil and active until about 1540.
