Azerbaijani () or Azeri (), also referred to as Azeri Turkic or Azeri Turkish, is a Turkic language from the Oghuz sub-branch spoken primarily by the Azerbaijani people, who live mainly in the Republic of Azerbaijan where the North Azerbaijani variety is spoken, and in the Azerbaijan region of Iran, where the South Azerbaijani variety is spoken. Although there is a very high degree of mutual intelligibility between both forms of Azerbaijani, there are significant differences in phonology, lexicon, morphology, syntax, and sources of loanwords. Mammad Araz
Mammad Araz ( az, Məmməd Araz, ) (14 October 1933 in Nursu, Nakhchivan – 1 December 2004 in Baku, Azerbaijan), born Mammad Ibrahimov, was an Azerbaijani poet. His pen name was Araz, the Azerbaijani spelling for the Aras river. Early life In 1954, he graduated degrees in Geography from Azerbaijan's Pedagogical Institute. Mammad Mammadov
Mammad Jabrail oglu Mammadov (Azerbaijani: Məmməd Cəbrayıl oğlu Məmmədov; 1920–24 January 1945) was an Azerbaijani Red Army Senior Sergeant and a Hero of the Soviet Union. Mammadov was posthumously awarded the title on 10 April 1945 for his actions during the Vistula–Oder Offensive, during which he reportedly killed 40 German soldiers while surrounded. Early life Mammadov was born in 1920 in Baydarlı to a peasant family. After receiving seven years of education he graduated from the Nukha teacher training college in 1939. He worked in Almalı as a secondary school teacher. Mammadov was drafted into the Red Army on 10 October 1940. World War II Mammadov fought in World War II from June 1941. He became a medic in the 1st Company of the 1235th Rifle Regiment in the 373rd Rifle Division. On 31 August 1944 he was awarded the Medal "For Courage" for his actions. Mammad Hagverdi Yaqubov (Məmməd Haqverdi oğlu Yaqubov) is an Azerbaijani scientist, doctor of physico and a mathematical sciences professor. Mammad Hagverdi Yaqubov was born on February 2, 1941, in the village of Mils Julfa region of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. In 1957 he graduated high school #1 in Nakhchivan. In 1962 he graduated from the Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty of Baku State University. Since 1965 he has been working at the university.
