Malvín is a '' barrio'' (neighbourhood or district) of Montevideo, Uruguay. Location Malvín borders Buceo to the west, Malvín Norte and Las Canteras to the north, Punta Gorda to the east and the coastline to the south. Economy The coastal avenue along Malvín is called Rambla O'Higgins and across it is ''Playa Malvín'', the beach of Malvín; the area was once a very popular resort. Malvín is named after Juan Balvín. Over time, the expansion of the city resulted in a major building development in the neighborhood, which increased markedly in size to become one of the fastest growing areas of the city. Club Malvín
Club Malvín is a sports club from Montevideo, Uruguay, established on January 28, 1938, in the residential neighbourhood of Malvín. The club engages in several sports: futsal, tennis, and handball, but basketball is by far the most important. History Club Malvín first president was Alberto Nieto. In 1938, the foundation year, Malvín started its sports activity, playing in the Federal Basketball Championship of Fourth Division (organized by the Uruguayan Basketball Federation - Federacion Uruguaya de Basketball-), in the club's first court located in Amazonas street. Rambla Of Montevideo
The Rambla of Montevideo is an avenue (landscape), avenue that goes all along the coastline of Montevideo, Uruguay. At a length of over 22.2 uninterrupted kilometres (13.7 mi), the promenade runs along the Río de la Plata and continues down the entire coast of Montevideo. Since all the southern departments of Uruguay are against either the Río de la Plata or the Atlantic Ocean, they all have ramblas as well. The outer barrios of Montevideo are largely rural. Eladio Dieste
Eladio Dieste (December 1, 1917 – July 29, 2000) was a Uruguayan engineer who made his reputation by building a range of structures from grain silos, factory sheds, markets and churches, most of them in Uruguay and all of exceptional elegance. Biography Dieste was born in Artigas department. His uncle was the Spanish poet Rafael Dieste. A particular innovation was his Gaussian vault, a thin-shell structure for roofs in single-thickness brick, that derives its stiffness and strength from a double curvature catenary arch form that resists buckling failure. There were several architects and engineers in South and Latin America who were working in the modernist language, such as Guillermo Gonzalez Zuleta in Colombia, Carlos Raúl Villanueva in Venezuela and Félix Candela in Mexico, who brought architecture and structural engineering into close proximity, especially when undertaking humble commissions. Buceo is a ''barrio'' (neighbourhood or district) in Montevideo, Uruguay. Location Buceo borders Pocitos and Villa Dolores, Montevideo, Villa Dolores to the west, Parque Batlle, Unión, Montevideo, Unión and Malvín Norte to the north, Malvín to the east and the coastline to the south.
