Malout
Malout is a town, just outside of Muktsar Sahib city in the Muktsar district of the Indian state of Punjab. It is in the southern Punjab "cotton belt", where production per kilometer is one of the highest in India. Malout is on NH-354 and NH-9 and NH-7, which connects Fazilka to New Delhi. The boundaries of Haryana and Rajasthan are and , respectively, from the town. Malout is from the border with Pakistan, and has been affected by military incidents. History Royals of Bajaj caste founded a fort here, Kacha Kot, leading to popular name Bajaj Fort. With the passage of time people started calling the city Bajaj Mahal and later Malout. Dr. Baljit Kaur is an Indian politician and an eye surgeon. She was elected to the Malout Assembly constituency, Punjab in the 2022 Punjab Legislative Assembly election as a member of the Aam Aadmi Party. Career She worked as an eye surgeon in the government run Muktsar civil hospital. She resigned from her job and joined AAP. Member of Legislative Assembly Kaur was elected as the MLA in the 2022 Punjab Legislative Assembly election. She represented the Malout Assembly constituency in the Punjab Legislative Assembly. National Highway 9 (India)
National Highway 9 (NH 9) is a National Highway in India in east-west direction. It starts at Malout in Punjab and ends at Pithoragarh in Pithoragarh district in Uttarakhand. It passes through the states of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Sri Muktsar Sahib district, colloquially known by the city's former name Muktsar; is one of the 23 districts in the Indian state of Punjab, India, Punjab. National Highway 7 (India)
National Highway 7 (NH 7) is a highway connecting Fazilka (Punjab) to Mana (Uttarakhand) in India. It passes through the Indian states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. The NH-7 (old NH-58) connects Hindu pilgrim centres of Rishikesh, Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, Chamoli, Joshimath and Badrinath with Dehradun and Chandigarh. Fazilka, also known as Bangla, is a city and a municipal council in Fazilka district of Punjab, India. In 2011, it was made the headquarter of the newly created Fazilka district. The Trans-Afghanistan Pipeline (TAPI) project originating in Turkmenistan will have its last station in Fazilka. Background Etymology Fazilka, founded in 1844 CE, is named by its founder JH Oliver after the Mian Fazil Watoo who had earlier owned the land before it was ceded to the British by the Bahawalpur princely state.
