New Radiant SC
New Radiant Sports Club is a Maldivian professional football club based in Henveiru – Malé, Maldives. The club was founded on 19 August 1979 by Ahmed Waheed and his friend Ahammadhanik. New Radiant has won all domestic competitions being held in the Maldives and the club is the most successful in the Maldives in terms of trophies won and is also the most successful Maldivian club in the international arena. They were semi-finalists in the AFC Cup in 2005 and the only Maldivian club to have progressed beyond group stages in the AFC cup in multiple occasions. Club Valencia is a Maldivian football club based in Malé, Maldives. Nicknamed ''The Sunrisers'', the club competes in the Dhivehi Premier League, the top tier of Maldivian football. History The notion of establishing a football club named Club Valencia arose in the late 1970s from the players of blue and gold teams participating in the Junior Football Pool organized by National Sports Academy. The first two names proposed to the government for approval as the name of the club were Youth Recreation Movement and Juvenile Valencia Atletico; both were rejected. Dhivehi League
Dhivehi League was a former Maldivian association football league, organized by the Football Association of Maldives. Every year, 8 teams competed in the league, which was the top level in the Maldivian football league system. Format Dhivehi League consists of 3 rounds of teams that play a round robin format, which means that each team plays each other twice; once at home and once as visitor. In the 3rd round only the top 6 teams will play while the lower 2 teams will be relegated. Every year, 8 teams compete in this high-profile competition, the top level in Maldives. President's Cup (Maldives)
President's Cup (known before 2005 as the National Championship) is said to be the first tournament in the Maldives and also the birth of Football in the Maldives. The very first tournament was held in 1946, with 2006 seeing its 50th edition. The first edition ended with Customs and Naadhee Ahthamadhun both sharing the trophy. The current format of the President's Cup allows only the top four teams of the Dhivehi League to participate. POMIS Cup
The POMIS Cup (known fully as President of Maldives Invitational Soccer Cup) is an international club football tournament kicked off in 1987 to promote the standards of local football in Maldives. This is the only international soccer club tournament held in the Maldives. Due to various reasons, Football Association of Maldives (FAM) was not able to stage the tournament in the years of 2002 and 2004 to 2014. In 2003, two foreign clubs from India and Sri Lanka competed in the cup, Mahindra United and Negombo Youth. On 22 December 2014, Football Association of Maldives (FAM) normalisation committee decided to introduce POMIS Cup again and started in January 2015. In 2015, the top two teams of Dhivehi League played against two foreign teams in the POMIS Cup. Club Lagoons is a Republic of the Maldives, Maldivian football (soccer), football club based in Malé, Maldives. They are one of the leading teams in Maldives during the 1980s and 1990s. Huraa (Kaafu Atoll)
Huraa ( Dhivehi: ހުރާ) is one of the inhabited islands of Kaafu Atoll. History Huraa is well known in the Maldivian history as the last royal dynasty to rule over the Maldives. They have their roots in Huraa island. It was founded in 1757 by Sultan al-Ghazi Hasan 'Izz ud-din.
