Malaysia At The 2018 Asian Games
Malaysia participated in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia from 18 August to 2 September 2018. At the last edition in Incheon, the country placed 14 in the medals tally, with 5 gold medals from squash, sailing, and karate. In 2018 edition, Malaysia was represented by 447 athletes and 140 officials at the Games. Abdul Azim Mohamad Zabidi, the Appeals Committee chairman of the Olympic Council of Malaysia was the chief of the delegation. Media coverage Malaysian satellite television provider Astro and public broadcaster Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) held the broadcast rights of the 2018 Asian Games in the country. Olympic Council of Malaysia, or commonly OCM or MOM, ( ms, Majlis Olimpik Malaysia, IOC code: MAS) is the National Olympic Committee representing Malaysia. Esther Cheah Mei Lan (born 31 March 1986) is a Malaysian female medal winning tenpin bowler who has represented Malaysia in several international competitive events including Asian Games, Southeast Asian Games. She is currently considered one of the most experienced and finest female bowlers to have represented Malaysia internationally. Biography Cheah was born in Petaling Jaya on 31 March 1986. Her father Holloway Cheah inspired her to practice the sport of bowling during her childhood as her father was also a former tenpin bowler who claimed a gold medal in bowling at the 1978 Asian Games. Cheah is also coached by her own father who is also the current national coach for the Malaysian tenpin bowling team. Sukan RTM (, formerly known as RTM HD, RTM HD Sports and RTM Sports, stylised as SUKAN rtm) is a Malaysian sports channel provided by RTM. The service was initially run as a trial from 2008, when it started during the Beijing Olympic Games and ended after the Summer Olympics finished. 10 years later, on 13 June 2018, RTM HD was officially launched as a trial broadcast exclusively on MYTV Broadcasting on channel 111. Astro NJOI
NJOI is a Malaysian free-to-view satellite television service launched on 18 February 2012 in collaboration with the government of Malaysia and Astro. It was officially announced by former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Najib Razak on 20 December 2011. At launch, the service provided 18 television channels and 19 radio stations. However, existing Astro customers may purchase this service through separate account. At launch, the set-up which consist of a set-top box, Out-Door Unit (ODU) satellite dish, smartcard and remote control unit, was available at a one-time payment of RM 305 at all Astro authorised retailers, with a standard installation fee of RM 100 from an Astro-authorised installer as stated on the website. In mid-2013, the one-time payment was reduced to RM 280, and installation remains at RM 100. Astro Arena is a Malaysian television station owned and operated by Radio Televisyen Malaysia and Astro. It is the first 24/7 Malay language sports channel in Malaysia. Astro SuperSport is an English language in-house subscription satellite television network in Malaysia dedicated to broadcasting sports-related content 24 hours a day. It is available on the Astro via Channels 810 & 831 (HD) to subscribers of the Sports package only. Radio Televisyen Malaysia ( en, Radio Television of Malaysia, abbreviated as RTM, stylised as rtm), also known as the Department of Broadcasting, Malaysia ( ms, Jabatan Penyiaran Malaysia) is the national public broadcaster of Malaysia. All-Asian Satellite Television and Radio Operator, doing business as Astro, is a Malaysian satellite television and IPTV provider. It operates in Malaysia and Brunei and operates from the All Asia Broadcast Centre (AABC) in Kuala Lumpur and MEASAT in Cyberjaya.
