Malagasy Presidential Election, 2010
General elections were held in Madagascar on 20 December 2013, following a first round of presidential elections on 25 October. The presidential elections in December were a runoff between Jean Louis Robinson and Hery Rajaonarimampianina, the top two candidates to emerge from the first round of voting in October. The official results of the second round were announced on 7 January 2014 with Rajaonarimampianina proclaimed the victor with nearly 54% of the vote. The last elected president, Marc Ravalomanana, was unconstitutionally removed from power by mass protests led by Mayor of Antananarivo Andry Rajoelina in early 2009. Rajoelina dissolved the Senate and National Assembly and took power as the president of the High Transitional Authority (HAT) he created to govern the country in the lead up to elections, which he promised to hold within 18 months. Hery Rajaonarimampianina
Hery Martial Rajaonarimampianina Rakotoarimanana (; ; born 6 November 1958) is a Malagasy politician who was President of Madagascar from January 2014 to September 2018, resigning to run for re-election. Previously he served as Minister of Finance under President Andry Rajoelina, and he was the Rajoelina political movement's candidate in the 2013 presidential election. He won the vote in a second round, defeating Jean-Louis Robinson, the candidate of Marc Ravalomanana's party. Once he was elected, Rajaonarimampianina held the world record of the head of state with the longest name (44 characters) as well as family name (19 characters). Monja Roindefo
Monja Roindefo Zafitsimivalo (born 1965) is a Malagasy politician who was Prime Minister of Madagascar from March 2009 to October 2009. He was appointed on 7 February 2009 by opposition leader Andry Rajoelina at the head of Rajoelina's rival government; later, on 17 March, Andry Rajoelina was installed in power by the military, and Monja Roindefo officially took over as Prime Minister. Life and career Roindefo, the son of politician Monja Jaona, was born in Toliara, Atsimo-Andrefana. Roindefo attempted to stand as a candidate in the December 2006 presidential election. Brigadier General Albert Camille Vital (born 18 July 1952) is a Madagascar, Malagasy Military of Madagascar, Army officer, politician and civil engineer who was Prime Minister of Madagascar from 2009 to 2011. Roland Ratsiraka
Iarovana Roland Ratsiraka (born August 15, 1966) is a Malagasy politician. In 1966 he was born in Antananarivo. Roland is the nephew of former President Didier Ratsiraka. He studied both in Madagascar and in France, before founding several companies. In 1996, Roland's uncle appointed him as Campaign Director for the Tamatave region. In 1998, he founded the regional political association Toamsina Tonga Saina (TTS), and was elected to the National Assembly of Madagascar as a Deputy for Toamasina. In 1999, he was elected as Mayor of the city, but the post was suspended in 2002.
