State Route 94 (SR 94) is a secondary state highway located in central Maine. It runs for , connecting SR 7 in Dexter to SR 11 and SR 43 west of Corinth. SR 94 is an east–west highway. Route description SR 94 begins in the west at an intersection with SR 7 just south of downtown Dexter, where SR 7 connects with SR 23. The highway is the most direct connection between the towns of Dexter and Corinth, and is the lone route serving the town center of Garland, which SR 94 passes through without any major crossings. After passing through Garland, SR 94 turns southeast, where it enters the town limits of Corinth and ends at an intersection with SR 11/SR 43. Dexter, Maine
Dexter is a town in Penobscot County, Maine, United States. The population was 3,803 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Bangor metropolitan statistical area. Dexter Regional High School, which serves Dexter as well as other nearby small towns, is located in the town. History Dexter was settled beginning in 1801 by Ebenezer Small, David Smith, and others from New Hampshire, and was originally called Elkinstown. When incorporated as a town in 1816, it named itself after Judge Samuel Dexter, who was then running for governor of Massachusetts (of which Maine was still a part). The town of Brooks in nearby Waldo County was incorporated the same year and named for the opposing candidate, John Brooks. Brooks won the election. The town of Dexter, however, achieved the greater prosperity. The town grew because of its location on the East Branch of the Sebasticook River, which provided excellent water power for mills. Corinth, Maine
Corinth is a town in Penobscot County, Maine, United States. The population was 2,900 at the 2020 census. History Colin Palmer was the founder of Corinth. In 1792 he built his home on Lot 10 First Range. Tibbetts enlisted as a private in Captain Reuben Dyers' company at the age of 17 on May 26, 1777, from Gouldsboro, Maine. Tibbetts' grave, with an official grave marker of a Revolutionary War soldier, is found in the East Exeter cemetery. The town was settled in the late 1790s by the extended Daniel Skinner family and originally called "Ohio". There is still an "Ohio Street" in nearby Bangor, being a portion of the original road or trail connecting that town with what is now Corinth. When the town was incorporated in 1811, it changed its name to Corinth, a reference to the classical Greek city. State Route 7 (SR 7) is part of Maine's system of numbered state highways, running from an interchange with U.S. Route 1 (US 1) in Belfast, to an intersection with SR 15 in Dover-Foxcroft. State Route 11 (SR 11) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maine. It is a major interregional route which runs nearly the entire length of the state from south to north. The southern terminus of SR 11 is at the New Hampshire state line in Lebanon, where it connects to New Hampshire Route 11. The northern terminus is at U.S. Route 1 (US 1) and SR 161 in Fort Kent, near the Canada–US border. The highway travels through York, Cumberland, Androscoggin, Kennebec, Somerset, Waldo, Penobscot, Piscataquis and Aroostook counties. State Route 43 (SR 43) is a state route from Cummings Hill Road and Intervale Road in Temple to U.S. Route 2 (US 2) and US 2A in Old Town. The route is long. State Route 23 (abbreviated SR 23) is part of Maine's system of numbered state highways, running from Sidney to Guilford. It is located in the south-central part of the state, running from southwest to northeast, roughly parallel to Interstate 95 for its entire length. Route description SR 23 begins in Sidney at Belgrade Road, which carries SR 8, SR 11 and SR 27. It runs northward along the eastern side of Messalonskee Lake into the town of Oakland, where it rejoins SR 11 and cuts through downtown. Garland is a town in Penobscot County, Maine, United States. The population was 1,026 at the 2020 census. History Garland was settled in 1802 and incorporated in 1811. It was named for the first settler, Joseph Garland, who came from Salisbury, New Hampshire. The township was originally granted by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to Williams College, which sold it to a series of proprietors in 1798. State Route 15 (SR 15) is a numbered state highway in Maine, United States. SR 15 runs over from Stonington in the south to Jackman in the north. Route description SR 15 begins in the town of Stonington, at the intersection of Main Street, School Street, and West Main Street. The route proceeds north out of Stonington and through Deer Isle en route to the mainland of Maine. Upon leaving the islands to the south via the Deer Isle Bridge, SR 15 meets SR 175 and forms an approximately concurrency with it. Corinna, Maine
Corinna is a town in Penobscot County, Maine, United States. The population was 2,221 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Bangor metropolitan statistical area. The village of Corinna is in the southern part of the town. History It was first called T4 R4 NWP (or Township 4, Range 4, North of the Waldo Patent). On June 30, 1804, Dr. John Warren of Boston bought on speculation from Massachusetts for two cents an acre, or $460.80. To encourage settlement, he gave away some land and built a combination gristmill and sawmill. The town would be incorporated on December 11, 1816, as Corinna, named after Dr. Warren's daughter. The first homes were built of hewn logs. Corinna developed into a farming community, with water powered mills at the outlet of Corundel Lake.
