State Route 190 (SR 190) is a state highway that travels from Water Street in Eastport to U.S. Route 1 (US 1) in Perry. It serves as the connector route to Eastport from the mainland. Though the road travels in a southeast–northwesterly direction, the road is signed as north–south. Route descriptions The state highway begins at the intersection of Water Street and Washington Street in downtown Eastport. Immediately around this intersection are businesses and the city's post office. SR 190 heads west along Washington Street where it passes numerous houses, churches, and other community buildings. At County Road and Deep Cove Road (the latter of which provides access to Eastport Municipal Airport), SR 190 curves to the north and travels along County Road. Perry, Maine
Perry is a town in Washington County, Maine, United States, on the Canada–United States border. At the 2020 census, the town had a population of 802. History Once part of Plantation T1 TS, the area was settled in 1758 by John Frost, who built a trading post beside the St. Croix River. Situated on Passamaquoddy Bay, the town was incorporated on February 12, 1818, even as the British held Eastport away. It was named after Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, hero of the War of 1812. Part of the community lies within the Pleasant Point Passamaquoddy Indian Reservation. A church in the town was inspiration for the name of the webcomic known as ''Perry Bible Fellowship''. Eastport is a city and archipelago in Washington County, Maine, United States. The population was 1,288 at the 2020 census, making Eastport the least-populous city in Maine. The principal island is Moose Island, which is connected to the mainland by a causeway. Eastport Municipal Airport
Eastport Municipal Airport is a city-owned public-use airport located one nautical mile (1.85 km) west of the central business district of Eastport, a city in Washington County, Maine, United States. Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, this airport is assigned EPM by the FAA but has no designation from the IATA. On October 13, 2020, the airport announced in a ceremony that it had received a $5.2 million grant from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration. The grant will be used to build a new runway and improve lighting and infrastructure. Expected completion date of the new runway is late 2021. The airport also announced that it will be applying for a federal small airport development grant and that it is in active discussions with Cape Air for future non-stop service to Boston Logan International Airport. Moose Island, Maine
Moose Island is an island in Eastport, Maine located at the entrance to Cobscook Bay from Passamaquoddy Bay in the Bay of Fundy. It is part of Shackford Head State Park. Passamaquoddy Pleasant Point Reservation ( Maliseet-Passamaquoddy: ''Sipayik'') is one of two reservations of the federally recognized Passamaquoddy tribe in Washington County, Maine, United States. The population was 692 as of the 2020 census. The Passamaquoddy also reside on the Indian Township Reservation. Geography Sipayik is located near the Canada–United States border in Washington County, Maine on a peninsula with the Little River and Passamaquoddy Bay to the east and Cobscook Bay to the west.
