Maine Public Utilities Commission
The Maine Public Utilities Commission is a government agency that regulates water, electric, natural gas, and telecommunications in the state of Maine. The commission also oversees ferries and water taxis in Casco Bay. The three full-time commissioners are nominated by the governor, reviewed by the legislature’s Joint Standing Committee on Utilities and Energy and confirmed by the full senate, for staggered terms of 6 years. The governor designates one commissioner as chairman. The commissioners make all final commission decisions by public vote or action of the majority. The current chairman is Phil Bartlett. Electric power distribution is the final stage in the delivery of electric power; it carries electricity from the transmission system to individual consumers. A water taxi or a water bus is a watercraft used to provide public or private transport, usually, but not always, in an urban environment. Service may be scheduled with multiple stops, operating in a similar manner to a bus, or on demand to many locations, operating in a similar manner to a taxi. Casco Bay is an inlet of the Gulf of Maine on the southern coast of Maine, New England, United States. Phil Bartlett
Philip Lester Bartlett II (born September 24, 1976) is an American lawyer and politician from Maine. A Democrat, he served in the Maine Senate from 2004 to 2012, representing the 6th district (Scarborough, Westbrook and his hometown of Gorham). In November 2014, Bartlett was elected Chairman of the Maine Democratic Party. Early life and career Raised in Gorham, Bartlett attended Gorham public schools, graduating from Gorham High School in 1994.
