Ada Maimon
Ada Maimon ( he, עדה מימון, born Ada Fishman on 8 October 1893, died 10 October 1973) was an Israeli politician who served as a member of the Knesset for Mapai between 1949 and 1955. Biography Born in Mărculești in Bessarabia Governorate, Russian Empire (in present-day Moldova), Maimon made aliyah to Ottoman-controlled Palestine in 1912, and was followed by her older brother, Yehuda the following year. She worked as a teacher, and opened a Hebrew school for girls in Safed. Having joined a youth movement associated with Hapoel Hatzair, she became a member of the Hapoel Hatzair central committee in 1913, remaining on it until 1920. A participant in its founding convention, she also served on the executive committee of the Histadrut trade union. Alexander Ziskind Maimon
Alexander Ziskind Maimon (July 18, 1809 - July 12, 1887) was a Lithuanian Jewish author and scholar of the Talmud and Mishnah. Maimon was born in Seirijai, Lithuania, then part of the Russian Empire to a family who claimed agnatic descent from Maimonides. His commentaries on biblical literature, Mishnah, Talmud and Halacha were publicized from his younger years and throughout his life. He was a writer for ''HaMagid'' Hebrew newspaper, known by the acronym of his and his father's name - AZBRMM (Alexander Ziskind ben Rabbi Moshe Maimon). His daughter's tombstone refers to him as "Maimon from Seirijai". In 1872 he is mentioned as "Rabbi Ziskind Maimon" in ''HaMagid'' in a list of people from Seirijai who donated to the Persian relief effort. Frat Maimon (also known as ''Prat Maimon'' or ''Solomon ben Menaham'') was a French Jewish Provençal scholar. A liturgical poet, he flourished in the second half of the 14th century. The name "Frat" is, according to Neubauer,Ernest Renan and Adolphe Neubauer, ''Les Ecrivains Juifs Français'' (1893), p. 753. abbreviated from "Frater." Maimonides
Musa ibn Maimon (1138–1204), commonly known as Maimonides (); la, Moses Maimonides and also referred to by the acronym Rambam ( he, רמב״ם), was a Sephardic Jewish philosopher who became one of the most prolific and influential Torah scholars of the Middle Ages. In his time, he was also a preeminent astronomer and physician, serving as the personal physician of Saladin. Born in Córdoba, Almoravid Empire (present-day Spain), on Passover eve, 1138 (or 1135), he worked as a rabbi, physician and philosopher in Morocco and Egypt. Moshe Maimon
Moshe Maimon (also Moses Lvovich Maimon; russian: Моисей Львович Маймон; 1860 – 1924) was a Jewish - Russian painter who was born in the Augustów Governorate, then part of the Russian Empire (present-day Lithuania). He was among the first known artists within the Jewish community of Russia. He was also the grandson of author Alexander Ziskind Maimon. Biography Maimon was born in Vilkaviškis, in the Augustów Governorate of Congress Poland (present-day Lithuania). He was apprenticed as a clockmaker in his youth and studied painting in Vilnius and Warsaw. In 1880 he was admitted to the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg. Yehuda Leib Maimon ( he, יהודה לייב מימון, 11 December 1875 – 10 July 1962, also known as Yehuda Leib HaCohen Maimon) was an Israeli rabbi, politician and leader of the Religious Zionist movement. He was Israel's first Minister of Religions.
