Taekwondo At The 2019 Pan American Games
Taekwondo competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru were held between July 26 to 29, 2019 at the Polideportivo Villa El Salvador, which also hosted the volleyball competitions. 12 medal events were contested. Eight of these events were in Kyorugi (four per gender). This edition marked the premiere of the pomsae events. These events were added after the request of the Organizing Committee as it understood that the chances of medal at this sport were very low for the host country. The Brazilian Olympic Committee or BOC ( pt, Comitê Olímpico do Brasil – COB) is the highest authority in Brazilian sport and the governing body of Brazilian Olympic sport. It was officially founded on June 8, 1914, but World War I caused its official activities to begin only in 1935. It was founded at the headquarters of the Brazilian Federation of Rowing Societies (''Federação Brasileira das Sociedades de Remo'') as an initiative from the Metropolitan League of Athletic Sports (''Liga Metropolitana de Esportes Atléticos''). Natália Falavigna da Silva (born May 9, 1984 in Maringá''Guia do Pan – XV Jogos Pan-Americanos''. Rio de Janeiro: Lance!, 2007) is a taekwondo athlete from Brazil. She finished in the fourth place in the women's 67-kilogram category in taekwondo at the 2004 Summer Olympics on August 26, and won the bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics. It was the first Brazilian Olympic medal ever in taekwondo. Personal life Falavigna was born in Maringá, and grew up in another city in the Paraná state, Londrina. At the age of four, she saw judoka Aurélio Miguel win a gold medal in the 1988 Summer Olympics and was inspired to become an athlete. She practiced volleyball, basketball, soccer, swimming, and the first she dedicated the most, handball.
