Mahpara Safdar
Mahpara Safdar (born 15 November 1954) is a Pakistani journalist, column writer, and former newscaster at PTV, Radio Pakistan, and BBC Urdu. Early life and education Safdar was born on 15 November 1954, in Lahore. Safdar's father, Syed Hassan Abbas Zaidi, was a poet and was associated with the education department. Safdar was the fourth of six sisters. She came to Sargodha with her parents as a child and received her primary, high school, and college education from Sargodha. She earned her master's degree in English from the University of the Punjab, Lahore. Meanwhile, she also participated in university programs on Radio Pakistan. Jehlam
Jhelum (Punjabi and ur, ) is a city on the east bank of the Jhelum River, which is located in the district of Jhelum in the north of Punjab province, Pakistan. It is the 44th largest city of Pakistan by population. Jhelum is known for providing many soldiers to the British Army before independence, and later to the Pakistan armed forces – due to which it is also known as ''City of Soldiers'' or ''Land of Martyrs and Warriors''. ''Nigār'' ( ur, ) is a Pakistan-based entertainment magazine published weekly from its head office in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. History and profile ''Nigar'' was the brainchild of Ilyas Rashidi, also known as the 'Pioneer of Film Journalism' () in Pakistan. Ilyas Rashidi acquired experience in entertainment journalism through his association with Umer Azad (his older brother) and his daily newspaper ''Anjum'', which had shifted its offices from Delhi to Karachi in 1947. Ilyas had been inspired by ''Filmfare'' magazine and thus purchased a children's magazine ''Monthly Nigar'' from his friend Ibne Hassan Nigar, and re-branded it as a weekly film magazine. The Nigar Awards ( ur, , translit=Inʿām Negār, lit=Picture Awards) were presented in an annual award show to recognize outstanding achievement in Pakistani cinema. The honors are awarded by Nigar Magazine founded in 1948. The Nigar Awards are Pakistan's version of the Academy Awards. The annual presentation ceremony features performances by prominent artists. The first Nigar Awards ceremony was held in 1957, to honor the accomplishments of Pakistani cinema for the year 1956. In 2002, following the 46th Annual Nigar Awards, Nigar Magazine announced its discontinuation of the awards due to the collapse of the Pakistani cinema industry. After a 15-year hiatus, with the revival of Pakistani cinema, the 47th Nigar Awards were announced to be held on 16 March 2017 in Karachi. Sairbeen ( ur, سیربین) is a flagship news and current affairs programme produced by BBC Urdu, currently being distributed on online platforms including YouTube. It is currently hosted by Aliya Nazki.
