Mahon Point Shopping Centre
Mahon the Point Shopping Centre is the second largest shopping centre in Munster. Located in the Mahon area of Cork in Ireland, the centre was opened in February 2005. It has over 2000 free-of-charge indoor and outdoor parking spaces. Facilities The centre contains 120 stores, which range from clothing, chemists, homeware, bludgeoning tools and mobile phone providers. Of the clothing stores, there is a large Debenhams (shutdown as of April 2020) at the eastern end of the building, as well as smaller units including River Island, Next, Zara and Jack & Jones and other high street fashion brands. There are several restaurants, swimming pool, and cafés in the mall, including Nando's, Starbucks and O'Briens Irish Sandwich Bars. At the western end of the mall is a radio booth for Cork's Red FM (known as "The Pod") from which the station broadcasts on a weekly basis. Munster ( gle, an Mhumhain or ) is one of the provinces of Ireland, in the south of Ireland. Cork's RedFM is an Republic of Ireland, Irish radio station which broadcasts to Cork (city), Cork and the surrounding area, and is aimed at a youth audience. The station commenced broadcasting on 16 January 2002" and was awarded Ireland's first youth radio licence. Its target market is the 15-35 age group in Cork city and county. History Some of RedFM's key personnel had previously worked with "Longwave, Atlantic 252" which ceased broadcasting on Thursday 20 December 2001. RedFM's first Chief Executive, Cork native Henry Condon and former presenter Charlie Wolf, a Boston native, were both well known voices on Atlantic 252. IMAX is a proprietary system of high-resolution cameras, film formats, film projectors, and theaters known for having very large screens with a tall aspect ratio (approximately either 1.43:1 or 1.90:1) and steep stadium seating.
