Mahmoud El Ali
Mahmoud Mohamad El Ali ( ar, محمود محمد العلي; born 4 March 1984) is a Lebanese former professional Association football, footballer who played as a Striker (association football), striker. El Ali represented the Lebanon national football team, Lebanon national team, scoring 12 goals in 46 games, before being banned for life from professional football due to his involvement in the 2013 Lebanese match fixing scandal. Club career El Ali began his senior career at Lebanese Premier League club Al Rayyan SC Beirut, Rayyan, during the 2004–05 Lebanese Premier League, 2004–05 season. The forward scored five goals. In 2005 El Ali moved to Al Ahed FC, Ahed, scoring four goals and helping his side finish in fifth place during the 2005–06 Lebanese Premier League, 2005–06 season. The Lebanese Elite Cup () is a Lebanese football annual cup competition contested by the top six teams of the previous Lebanese Premier League season. Founded in 1996 as the Super League Cup, the first edition was contested by the top five finishers of the league and the Lebanese FA Cup winners. A hat-trick or hat trick is the achievement of a generally positive feat three times in a match, or another achievement based on the number three. 2013 Lebanese Football Match-fixing Scandal
The 2013 Lebanese football match-fixing scandal was part of a worldwide FIFA investigation with the intent of cracking down on match fixing. Many players were found guilty of being bribed by betting companies to purposefully lose games, with matches not only limited to domestic leagues in Asia, but also international competitions. 24 players were fined in various degrees, with Ramez Dayoub and Mahmoud El Ali being given the most severe punishment: a lifetime ban from the sport and a $15,000 fine. The Lebanese Super Cup () is Lebanese football's annual match contested between the champions of the previous Lebanese Premier League season and the holders of the Lebanese FA Cup. If the Lebanese Premier League champions also won the Lebanese FA Cup then the league runners-up provide the opposition.
