Mahmood Mosque (Malmö)
The Mahmood Mosque ( sv, Mahmoodmoskén) is a mosque in Malmö, Skåne County, Sweden. History The mosque construction project started in 1999. The mosque was officially opened on 13 May 2016 during Friday sermon delivered by Mirza Masroor Ahmad and inaugurated a day after in a ceremony attended by the Chairperson of Malmö City Council. Architecture The 2,000 m2 mosque complex consist of 5 buildings, which also includes two-bedroom accommodation, sports hall, offices and a library. The mosque consist of two prayer halls, one for male and the other for female. In total, the mosque can accommodate up to 1,700 worshipers. It was constructed with a total cost of SEK37.5 million. Malmö
Malmö (, ; da, Malmø ) is the largest city in the Swedish county (län) of Scania (Skåne). Mirza Masroor Ahmad
Mirza Masroor Ahmad ( ur, ; born 15 September 1950) is the current and fifth leader of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. His official title within the movement is Fifth Caliph of the Messiah ( ar, خليفة المسيح الخامس, ''khalīfatul masīh al-khāmis''). He was elected on 22 April 2003, three days after the death of his predecessor Mirza Tahir Ahmad. Following the death of the fourth caliph, the Electoral College, for the first time in the history of the community, convened outside the Indian subcontinent and in the city of London, after which Mirza Masroor Ahmad was elected as the fifth caliph of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. Ahmadiyya In Sweden
Ahmadiyya is an Islamic community in Sweden, under the leadership of the caliph in London. The earliest history of the Community in the country begins in 1956, during the Second Caliphate, when Kamal Yousuf was appointed as the head of the mission in Sweden. However it was not until 1970 that the Community was first officially registered. Today, there are two purpose-built mosques, one of which is the oldest in the country, and also a number of other Islamic centers, representing an estimated average of 1200 Ahmadi Muslims in the country.
