Mahindra United World College Of India
UWC Mahindra College (sometimes known as the ''Mahindra United World College of India'', or MUWCI) is a pre-university international boarding school, located west of Pune in Maharashtra, India. The college is a two-year programme with about 250 full-time boarders, and follows the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program (DP). It is one of the 18 United World Colleges. The school was established in 1997 with the support of Harish Mahindra and Anand Mahindra of the Mahindra Group. History On 28 November 1997, Queen Noor of Jordan and Nelson Mandela inaugurated the UWC Mahindra College in India as one of the now eighteen United World Colleges (UWC) and the third UWC in Asia. Wada is a type of dwelling found in Maharashtra, western India. ''Wada'' is a Marathi word for denoting a large mansion. The term, in all probability, is derived from the ''Sanskrit'' word ''Vata'', meaning a plot or a piece of land meant for a house. Over time it came to denote the house built on that plot. Malaika Vaz
Malaika Vaz is a National Geographic Explorer, TV presenter and wildlife filmmaker from Goa, India. She is the youngest person to reach the Artic and the Antarctic with students on ice foundation. Arvinn Eikeland Gadgil (born 18 January 1980, Tromsø, Norway) is a Norwegian Socialist Left Party politician of Indian descent. He was the State Secretary (International Development Affairs) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from April 2012 until the Norwegian general election of September 2013. The Li Po Chun United World College of Hong Kong (LPCUWC, ), established in 1992, is an International Baccalaureate boarding school in Wu Kai Sha (烏溪沙), Hong Kong, within walking distance of Wu Kai Sha station. Mulshi Dam
Mulshi is the name of a major dam on the Mula river in India. It is located in the Mulshi taluka administrative division of the Pune district of Maharashtra State. Water from the dam is used for irrigation as well as for producing electricity at the Bhira hydroelectric power plant, operated by Tata Power. The station operates six 25MW Pelton turbines established in 1927 and one 150MW Pumped Storage Unit. Water from this reservoir located in Krishna river basin is diverted to the Bhira power house for generating Hydro electricity. In 1920–21, during the construction of the dam and power station, Pandurang Mahadev Bapat led ''Mulshi Satyagrah'', a movement to represent farmers whose land had been taken to build the project.
