University Grants Commission (UGC) is a statutory body set up by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India in accordance to the UGC Act 1956 and is charged with coordination, determination and maintenance of standards of higher education in India. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan (16 November 1953 – 1 October 2022) was an Indian politician of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). Ramesh Parambath (born 23 May 1961) is an Indian politician and a member of the 15th Puducherry Legislative Assembly. He is a member of the Indian National Congress and represents Mahe constituency.
