Mahalakshmi Temple, Dahanu
The Mahalakshmi temple, or Mahalaxmi Temple, is one of the most famous temples of Dahanu situated on Mumbai– Ahmedabad Highway in Dahanu area. It is dedicated to Mahalakshmi. This temple was built by Koli king Jayabha Mukne of Jawhar State in 1306 at the establishment of Jawhar. Jawhar State
The Jawhar State was a princely state in India. As a princely state, it became a part of Bombay Presidency during the British Raj. It was the only state belonging to the Thana Agency. The last Koli Ruler of Jawhar at Indian independence was Maharaja Yashwantrao Martandrao Mukne (Patangshah Mukne). The coat of arms consisted of a shield in three parts; dexter, tenne a dexter fist holding two crossed arrows (points dexter) and a bow, all argent; sinister, argent a round shield sable bordured or, in the chief argent, a sword or pointed sinister.
