Magne Lystad
Magne Lystad (12 November 1932, in Kongsvinger – 21 January 1999, in Oslo) was a Norwegian orienteering competitor. Magne Lystad won the first ever European championships in orienteering in 1962, and finished second in the team relay. He became Nordic champion in 1957 and 1959. Lystad was crowned Norwegian champion seven times between 1954 and 1962. Kongsvinger
Kongsvinger () is a municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Glåmdal. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Kongsvinger. Other settlements in the municipality include Austmarka, Brandval, Lundersæter, and Roverud. The municipality is the 111th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Kongsvinger is the 72nd most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 17,949. Egil Danielsen
Egil Danielsen (9 November 1933 – 29 July 2019) was a Norway, Norwegian javelin thrower. He competed at the 1956 and 1960 Olympics and won the gold medal in 1956. Danielsen, who used an old-type wooden javelin, did poorly in the 1956 final, which was led by his Polish friend Janusz Sidło. Trying to help Danielsen, Sidło lent him his modern steel javelin, and Michel Macquet gave him a cup of strong coffee. Danielsen set a new world record at 85.71 m and won the gold medal. He could never reproduce that throw. Danielsen was selected Norwegian Sportsperson of the Year in 1956. Inger Bjørnbakken
Inger Bjørnbakken (28 December 1933 – 13 February 2021) was a Norwegian alpine skier. Career She was born in Bærum and represented the club Bærums SK. She finished tied for sixth place (with fellow Norwegian Astrid Sandvik) in the women's slalom at the 1956 Winter Olympics at Cortina d'Ampezzo. She also finished fourteenth in the giant slalom. Two years later, Bjørnbakken won the women's slalom at the 1958 World Championships in Bad Gastein. To date, she is the only Norwegian female world champion in alpine skiing. She later finished fourteenth in the slalom and 20th in the giant slalom of the 1960 Winter Olympics. In the Holmenkollen Kandahar event she won seven races between 1955 and 1959. She also took seven national championship titles between 1956 and 1959. For her alpine world championship, Bjørnbakken earned the Holmenkollen Medal that same year (shared with Håkon Brusveen). Knut Johannesen
Knut ("Kupper'n") Johannesen (born 6 November 1933) is a former speed skater from Norway. Biography Born in Oslo and representing the skating club ASK (''Arbeidernes Skøyteklubb'' – later called ''Aktiv Skøyteklubb'') Johannesen won the World Allround Championships in 1957 and 1964, the European Allround Championships in 1959 and 1960, and won the Norwegian Allround Championships eight times (1955 and 1957–1963). He was Olympic Champion twice – on the 10,000 m at the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley and on the 5,000 m at the 1964 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck. He led the Adelskalender for a total of 1,100 days. For his achievements, he received the 1959 Oscar Mathisen Award and was elected Norwegian Sportsperson of the Year in 1960.
