Magheracloone Mitchell's GAC
Magheracloone Mitchells is a Gaelic Athletic Association Gaelic football club from the parish of Magheracloone in County Monaghan, Ireland. The team participate in the Monaghan Senior Football Championship. The Magheracloone Mitchells GAA club pitch is situated on the main Carrickmacross-Kingscourt Road. On the site there are two pitches (the main pitch and a training pitch), modern changing rooms as well as a community centre and a handball alley. History 2018 collapse On Monday 24 September 2018, a disused mine collapsed in the area where the club is located. An exclusion zone was set up, with the club confirming that its pitch was completely out of bounds. Social media images displayed enormous cracks in the clubhouse and the surface of the club's pitch. Tomás Freeman
Tomás "Tommy" Freeman is an Irish Gaelic footballer from Magheracloone, County Monaghan. He plays at senior level for the Monaghan county team. He received an All Star Award in 2007. Freeman plays his club football for Magheracloone Mitchells. Personal life Freeman is a carpenter by profession. His brother Damien also played for Magheracloone and Monaghan. Playing career Inter-county In 2005 Freeman helped Monaghan win the National League Division 2 title. He scored 2–03 against Meath in the final. He also won an Irish News Ulster All-Star award for his performances that year. In 2007 Freeman helped Monaghan reach the Ulster Senior Football Championship final, where they lost by two points to Tyrone (1-15 to 1–13). Ulster Intermediate Club Football Championship
The Ulster Intermediate Club Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football tournament played between the hundreds of intermediate football clubs in Ulster. There are nine county championships between the nine counties of Ulster. The nine winners go on to play each other in the Ulster Club Championship in a knock-out format. The winners go on to compete with the Connacht, Leinster, Munster and London champions in the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Football Championship. The Monaghan Intermediate Football Championship (often referred to as the Monaghan IFC for short or the McElvaney's Waste & Recycling Intermediate Football Championship for sponsorship reasons) is an annual Gaelic football competition contested by mid-tier Monaghan GAA clubs. Cavan Gaels is a Gaelic Athletic Association club from Cavan Town, County Cavan in Ireland. They are affiliated to Cavan GAA. The club was founded in 1957 following the merging of two clubs in Cavan Town, Cavan Harps and Cavan Slashers. Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands).
