Embankment Dam
An embankment dam is a large artificial dam. It is typically created by the placement and compaction of a complex semi-plastic mound of various compositions of soil or rock. It has a semi-pervious waterproof natural covering for its surface and a dense, impervious core. This makes the dam impervious to surface or seepage erosion. Such a dam is composed of fragmented independent material particles. The friction and interaction of particles binds the particles together into a stable mass rather than by the use of a cementing substance. Types Embankment dams come in two types: the earth-filled dam (also called an earthen dam or terrain dam) made of compacted earth, and the rock-filled dam. Maduru Oya Solar Power Station
The Maduru Oya Solar Power Station is a proposed floating solar photovoltaic power station to be built over - or 2%, of the Maduru Oya Reservoir. Following the cabinet approval in 2017, the Ministry of Science and Technology allocated for obtaining the required equipment for a prototype training project. On 9 April 2019, the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy and the Canadian Commercial Corporation signed a memorandum of cooperation for the joint development of the facility, which is expected to complete by November 2019. Maduru Oya National Park ( si, මාදුරු ඔය ජාතික වනෝද්යානය, translit=Māduru Oya Jātika Vanōdyānaya; ta, மாதுரு ஓயா தேசிய பூங்கா, translit=Māturu Ōyā Tēciya Pūṅkā) is a national park of Sri Lanka, established under the Mahaweli development project and also acts as a catchment of the Maduru Oya Reservoir.
