Greg Maddux
Gregory Alan Maddux (born April 14, 1966) is an American former professional baseball pitcher who played 23 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) for four teams. Maddux is best known for his accomplishments while playing for the Atlanta Braves and the Chicago Cubs. With the Braves, he won the 1995 World Series over the Cleveland Indians. The first to achieve a number of feats and records, he was the first pitcher in major league history to win the Cy Young Award four consecutive years (1992–1995), matched by only one other pitcher, Randy Johnson. During those four seasons, Maddux had a 75–29 record with a 1.98 earned run average (ERA), while allowing less than one baserunner per inning. Maddux is the only pitcher in MLB history to win at least 15 games for 17 straight seasons. John Jared Maddux (July 20, 1911 – May 22, 1971) was a Tennessee politician. Career A member of the Tennessee State Senate, he was elected by his colleagues to serve as the 43rd Lieutenant Governor of Tennessee from 1953 to 1959 and again from 1965 to 1967 under Governor Frank G. Clement, longer than any other person except John S. Wilder, who held the office from 1971 to 2007. Mariya "Masha" Dashkina Maddux is a Ukrainian modern dancer and dance teacher. She is a former principal dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company and is the founder and director of the Wake Forest Dance Festival. Michael Ausley Maddux (born August 27, 1961) is an American professional baseball coach and former pitcher. He is the pitching coach for the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He played in MLB for nine teams, over 15 seasons, and coached for four teams following his playing career. Roger Maddux (born 1948) is an American mathematician specializing in algebraic logic. He completed his B.A. at Pomona College in 1969, and his Ph.D. in mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley in 1978, where he was one of Alfred Tarski's last students. His career has been at Iowa State University, where he fills a joint appointment in computer science and mathematics.
