Maddison Levi
Maddison Levi (born 27 April 2002) is an Australian rules footballer and rugby sevens player currently playing for Gold Coast in the AFL Women's competition (AFLW) and Australia women's sevens team. Early life Levi grew up on the Gold Coast and attended Miami State High School throughout her upbringing where she was a member of their Rugby Sevens Excellence Program. An accomplished junior rugby player, she represented Queensland as well as Australia in junior competitions and was named player of the tournament in the under-17 Youth Rugby Sevens National Championships. In 2018 Levi was asked to play Australian rules football for the first time with Miami High's AFLQ Schools Cup team and went on to play a pivotal role in the school's state championship win that year. Miami State High School
Miami State High School is a school in Miami, Queensland established as South Coast District State High School in 1963. History Originally named South Coast District State High School, Miami High was officially opened in April 1963. It soon became known as Miami High and, after a number of years, the more compact name was officially adopted. It was built to meet the needs of the rapidly expanding population on the Gold Coast. Teagan Levi
Teagan Levi (born 14 August 2003) is an Australian rugby union player who has represented Australia at sevens rugby at the Commonwealth Games. She is the sister of fellow rugby sevens player Maddison Levi. In October 2021, Levi was drafted to the Gold Coast Suns in the AFL Women's league but opted to join up with the rugby sevens Australian squad instead. Levi won a gold medal with the Australian sevens team at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. 2022 Commonwealth Games
The 2022 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXII Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Birmingham 2022, was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth of Nations that took place in Birmingham, England between 28 July and 8 August 2022. Birmingham was announced as host on 21 December 2017. 2021 Dubai Women's Sevens
The 2021 Dubai Women's Sevens was held as two rugby sevens tournaments on consecutive weekends in late November and early December that year. They were played as the tenth international season of the Dubai Women's Sevens, following the cancellation of the 2020 tournament due to impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournaments were the opening events of the 2021–22 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series. Due to ongoing impacts of the pandemic, the first event was played behind closed doors on 26–27 November 2021 with no spectators allowed, but the second event was played in front of full crowds on 3–4 December at The Sevens stadium in Dubai. Two pitches were used in Dubai, which allowed matches in overlapping time slots to be played. As only ten women's teams instead of the usual twelve competed in both tournaments, a format based on two pools with five teams in each was used. 2022 Spain Women's Sevens
The 2022 Spain Women's Sevens was played as two back-to-back rugby sevens tournaments on consecutive weekends in late January that year. These events were hosted by the Spanish Rugby Federation as the third and fourth stops on the 2021–22 season of the World Rugby Women's Sevens Series. It was the first time the series was held in Spain. The United States won the first tournament, held at Estadio Ciudad in Málaga from 21–23 January, defeating Russia in the final by 35–10. The second tournament, held from 28–30 January at Estadio de La Cartuja in Seville, was won by series-leader Australia, with a score of 17–12 over first-time cup finalist Ireland. The 2022 Canada Women's Sevens was rugby sevens tournament for women's national teams that took place between 30 April and 1 May 2022 at Starlight Stadium, Langford, British Columbia, Canada as part of the 2021–22 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series. The defending champions from the 2019 Sevens Series event were New Zealand. In their third Langford Final appearance, first-time Langford champions Australia beat New Zealand 21–17 in the Final, a rematch of the 2018 and 2019 events. 2021–22 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series
The 2021–22 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series was the ninth edition of the global circuit for women's national rugby sevens teams, organised by World Rugby. The ninth edition was meant to be played a year earlier, but the 2021 Series was cancelled due to impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Australia won the series at the second-last event in Canada, winning four out of the six events on the tour to claim their third World Series title. France, Fiji and Ireland placed second, third and fourth, respectively, which was the best finish achieved by all three teams in the World Series. The women's rugby sevens tournament at the 2020 Summer Olympics was held in Japan. It was hosted at Tokyo Stadium, which also served as a host stadium of the 2019 Rugby World Cup. 2021 AFLW Season
The 2021 AFL Women's season was the fifth season of the AFL Women's competition, the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia. The season featured fourteen clubs, ran from 28 January until 17 April, and comprised a 9-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top six clubs. The premiership was won by the for the first time, after it defeated by 18 points in the AFL Women's Grand Final. Format The previous two AFLW seasons were formatted with the assistance of conferences, which split the league's clubs into two ranking tables.
