Madar Hersi
Sultan Madar Hersi Deria ( so, Madar Xirsi Diiriye) was a Somali ruler and the 7th Sultan of the Habr Yunis Sultanate. Overview Madar was a son of Hersi Deria (''not to be confused with Hersi Aman'') and grandson of Sultan Deria Sugulleh Ainashe and thus belonged to the Baha Deria section of the Rer Sugulle. H.G Haggenmacher met Madar's father in 1873 and described him as the chief of the Habr Yunis and witnessed him leading an expedition against a neighbouring tribe. Haggenmacher briefly describing the battle, writes : In the meantime, the battle between the two Gabilas had reached an unbelievable extent. Sultan
Sultan (; ar, سلطان ', ) is a position with several historical meanings. Originally, it was an Arabic abstract noun meaning "strength", "authority", "rulership", derived from the verbal noun ', meaning "authority" or "power". Later, it came to be used as the title of certain rulers who claimed almost full sovereignty (i.e., not having dependence on any higher ruler) without claiming the overall caliphate, or to refer to a powerful governor of a province within the caliphate. Ali Yusuf Kenadid
Ali Yusuf Kenadid ( so, Cali Yuusuf Keenadiid, ar, علي يوسف كينايديض) was a Somali ruler. He was the second ruler of the Sultanate of Hobyo. History Ali Yusuf was born into a Majeerteen Darod family. His father, Sultan Yusuf Ali Kenadid, was the founder of the Sultanate of Hobyo centered in present-day northeastern and central Somalia. Dolal Nur
Sultan Dolal Nur ( so, Doolaal Nuur) was a Somali ruler and the 6th sultan of the Habr Yunis Sultanate during the late nineteenth century. Overview Dolal was crowned by the elders of the Habr Yunis after his father Nur Ahmed Aman died in the Dervish camp. His grand-uncle Sultan Hersi's death caused a decade-long civil war when his father Nur was crowned Sultan and his great uncle Awad Sultan Deriyeh and eldest living son of sultan Deriyeh declared himself a rival sultan in 1881. The two Sultans were now at war with each other and divided the Kingdoms territory between themselves, with Nur being based in the Toyo plains and Awd establishing himself at Burao. In the 1890s Sultan Awad Deria was killed in a battle which resulted in Sultan Nur facing no opposition and was the sole ruler of the Habr Yunis Sultanate up until he started the Dervish uprising, which resulted in his uncle Madar Hersi being crowned. The Habr Je'lo ( so, Habar Jeclo, ar, هبر جعلو , Full Name: ''Mūsa ibn ash-Shaykh Isḥāq ibn Aḥmad,'' historically known as the Habr Toljaala ( so, Habar Toljeclo) is a major sub-tribe of the wider Isaaq family. Its members form part of the Habr Habushed ( so, Habar Xabuusheed) confederation along with the Ibran, Sanbuur and Tolje’lo. Habr Yunis Sultanate
The Habr Yunis Sultanate ( so, Saldanadda Habar Yoonis, ar, سلطنة هبر يونس) was a Somali people, Somali kingdom that ruled parts of the Horn of Africa during the 18th century. It spanned the territories of the Garhajis#Habr Yunis, Habr Yunis clan which is part of the wider Isaaq in modern day Somaliland and Ethiopia. The sultanate was governed by the Rer Ainanshe branch of the Habr Yunis clan. History Establishment The Habr Yunis Sultanate finds its roots in the Isaaq Sultanate which was established by the Rer Guled branch of the Garhajis#Eidagale, Eidagale after the Isaaq successfully defeated the Ogaden, Absame clan at Lafaruug in the 17th century.
