Mackay Memorial College
Mackay College is a secondary school located in Nateete, one of Kampala's suburbs, in Lubaga Division, Kampala District, Uganda. It is 8 km from the city centre, off Masaka road, within the vicinity of Mackay Church of Uganda Natete in Natete Church Zone. The school operates a small piggery where pupils learn to care for domestic pigs, students are trained how to grow vegetables( without using artificial fertilizers) through the organic farming project led by the biology teacher Migadde Jane. Other projects run by the school, such as briquette making, seek to produce self-reliant and self-employed students in order to curb unemployment in the area. History The school was founded in 1967 on private basis and later became government aided in 1980. Nateete is a location in the city of Kampala, Uganda's capital. Location Nateete is located in Lubaga Division, on the southwestern edge of the city of Kampala. Lubaga Division
Rubaga Division, also Lubaga Division, is one of the divisions that makes up the city of Kampala, Uganda. The division takes its name from Rubaga, where the division headquarters are located. Location Rubaga Division lies in the western part of the city, bordering Wakiso District to the west and south of the division. The eastern boundary of the division is Kampala Central Division. Piggery
Intensive pig farming, also known as pig factory farming, is the primary method of pig production, in which grower pigs are housed indoors in group-housing or straw-lined sheds, whilst pregnant sows are housed in gestation crates or pens and give birth in farrowing crates. The use of gestation crates for pregnant sows has lowered birth production costs; however, this practice has led to more significant animal cruelty. Many of the world's largest producers of pigs ( US, China, and Mexico) use gestation crates. The European Union has banned the use of gestation crates after the fourth week of pregnancy. Alexander Murdoch Mackay
Alexander Murdoch Mackay (13 October 1849 – 4 February 1890) was a Scottish Presbyterian missionary to Uganda known as Mackay of Uganda. Life Mackay was born on 13 October 1849 in Rhynie, Aberdeenshire, the son of Rev Alexander Mackay LLD (1813-1895) and his first wife, Margaret Lillie (1825-1865).Ewing, William ''Annals of the Free Church'' He studied at the Free Church Training School for Teachers at Edinburgh, then at the University of Edinburgh, and finally in Berlin. He displayed a great aptitude for mechanics, and spent several years as a drafter, draughtsman in Germany. Mackay decided to become a missionary after Henry Morton Stanley was told by Mutesa I of Buganda that Uganda wanted missionaries. He joined the Church Missionary Society in 1876. Esta Nambayo
Esta Nambayo is a Ugandan lawyer and judge who was appointed to the High Court of Uganda on 4 October 2019. Before that, from 27 August 2018 until 4 October 2019, she served as the Chief Registrar of the Courts of Judicature in Uganda.
