''MTV Unplugged'' is a live performance by Colombian band Aterciopelados Aterciopelados ( en, The Velvet Ones), also known as Los Aterciopelados, is a rock band from Colombia, led by Andrea Echeverri and Héctor Buitrago. Their music fuses rock with a variety of Colombian and Latin American musical traditions. Aterci ..., released in 1997. It was recorded before a live audience on April 3 of 1997 at the Miami Broadcast Center in Miami. Aterciopelados was the first Colombian band to record for MTV Unplugged. Unofficial album In 1997 Aterciopelados was promoting their new album '' La Pipa de la Paz''. Due to the great reception of the album and successful album sales, MTV Latin America invited the band to hold an '' Unplugged'' session where they performed their greatest hits and a few songs from the latest album. Aterciopelados
Aterciopelados ( en, The Velvet Ones), also known as Los Aterciopelados, is a rock band from Colombia, led by Andrea Echeverri and Héctor Buitrago. Their music fuses rock with a variety of Colombian and Latin American musical traditions. Aterciopelados have recorded eight albums. The group has won four Latin Grammy Awards from eight nominations, including Best Alternative Album in 2007 for '' Oye'', as well as four Grammy Award nominations. ''La Pipa de la Paz'' is the third studio album by Colombian band Aterciopelados. Produced by Phil Manzanera in London with this project they became the first Colombian artist to be nominated for a Grammy in the Best Latin Rock/Alternative Performance category. This album spawned some of their most well-known songs and greatest hits like ''Cosita Seria'', ''Baracunatana'', ''No Necesito'', ''La Culpable'', ''Expreso Amazonia'', ''La Voz de la Patria'', ''Te Juro Que No'' (featuring Enrique Bunbury) and the title track ''La Pipa de la Paz''. MTV is a Latin American pay television network that was launched on 1 October 1993 as the Hispanic American version of MTV. It is owned by Paramount Networks Americas, a subsidiary of Paramount Global. "Play the Game" is a song by British rock band Queen, written by Freddie Mercury. It is the first track on the first side of their 1980 album '' The Game''. It also appears on their album ''Greatest Hits''. The single was a hit in the UK, reaching #14 in the charts, and in the US, peaking at #42. Composition The song commences with a series of overlapping rushing noises on an Oberheim OB-X synthesiser, heralding the band's acceptance of electronic instruments into their once explicitly "no synths" sonic repertoire. They played it in their live shows from 1980–82.
