MTV Europe Music Award
The MTV Europe Music Awards (originally named MTV European Music Awards, commonly abbreviated as MTV EMA) are awards presented by Paramount International Networks to honour artists and music in pop culture. It was originally conceived as an alternative to the MTV Video Music Awards, which are hosted annually in the United States. The Europe Music Awards are held every year in a different country; it has been hosted mostly in the United Kingdom. The annual presentation ceremony features performances by prominent artists, and the presentation of those awards that have a more popular interest. The awards are a reflection of the international and continental music scene. They are representative of geographical origin and of achievement in diverse musical genres and disciplines, indicative of the diversity and scope of the show. Kendrick Lamar Duckworth (born June 17, 1987) is an American rapper and songwriter. He rose to prominence with the release of his country rap single " Old Town Road", which first achieved viral popularity in early 2019 before climbing music charts internationally and becoming diamond certified by November of that same year, moving over ten million certified units in streaming and sales combined. "Old Town Road" spent 19 weeks atop the U.S. ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart, becoming the longest-running number-one song since the chart debuted in 1958. Ashley Nicolette Frangipane ( ; born September 29, 1994), known professionally as Halsey ( ), is an American singer and songwriter. She was born and raised in New Jersey. Pablo Díaz-Reixa (born November 17, 1983), professionally known as el Guincho, is a Spanish musician, singer, and record producer. Díaz-Reixa rose to prominence with his 2008 album, ''Alegranza''. 2019 MTV Europe Music Awards
The 2019 MTV EMAs (also known as the MTV Europe Music Awards) was held at the FIBES Conference and Exhibition Centre in Seville, Spain, on 3 November 2019. The ceremony's host was Becky G. This was the fourth year, as well as the second consecutive year, that Spain hosted the ceremony. It was also the first time a country hosted back-to-back editions. Ariana Grande was nominated for seven awards, followed by Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X and Shawn Mendes, who were each nominated for six. BTS won three awards, becoming the most awarded act of the night, followed by Taylor Swift, Halsey and Eilish, who each won two. In association with the EMAs, an event called MTV Music Week was organised, which run from 31 October to 2 November at different locations throughout the city.
