MR-90
The MR-90 was a class of single-level electric multiple unit (EMU) railcars built in 1994-1995 by Bombardier Transportation Bombardier Transportation was a Canadian-German rolling stock and rail transport manufacturer, headquartered in Berlin, Germany. It was one of the world's largest companies in the rail vehicle and equipment manufacturing and servicing industry ... for the Société de Transport de la Communauté Urbaine de Montreal (STCUM) and now operated by Exo. These cars were ordered when the Deux-Montagnes line was completely rebuilt from 1993 to 1995 and all the equipment and infrastructure was replaced. With the closure of the Deux-Montagnes line on December 31, 2020 in favor of the Réseau express métropolitain project, the MR-90 fleet was withdrawn from service. Deux-Montagnes Line
Deux-Montagnes or Two Mountains Line (also designated exo6 and formerly Red Line) was formerly a commuter railway line in Greater Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It was owned by Exo, the organization that operates public transport services across this region. The line was created in 1918 as a Canadian Northern Railway (CNoR) service. Canadian National Railway (CN) ran the line starting in 1923 following the merger of CNoR into CN. CN transferred the Deux-Montagnes Line to the Société de transport de la communauté urbaine de Montréal (STCUM) on July 1, 1982. The line was refurbished from 1992 to 1995. It was transferred to the RTM's predecessor agency, the Agence Métropolitaine de transport (AMT) on January 1, 1996. CN Electric Multiple Unit
The CN electric multiple units were a fleet of electric multiple unit (EMU) railcars built in 1952 by Canadian Car and Foundry (CCF) for the Canadian National Railway for use on the Deux-Montagnes line in Montreal. The cars remained in use until June 2, 1995 when the reconstruction started. The MR-90 entered service late in 1995. Several have been preserved. Design CCF built six motor cars and twelve trailers. As designed the motor cars seated 88 while the trailers, which included restrooms, seated 84. Vestibules connected the cars. The standard formation consisted of a motor car and two trailers; the motor cars always led outbound trains from Central Station. The interiors were green pastel with maroon upholstery. Exo, officially known as Réseau de transport métropolitain (RTM; en, Metropolitan Transportation Network), is a public transport system in Greater Montreal, including the Island of Montreal, Laval ( Île Jésus), and communities along both the North Shore of the Mille Îles River and the South Shore of the St. Lawrence River. It was created on June 1, 2017, taking over from the ''Agence métropolitaine de transport''. Deux-Montagnes is a future terminus station of the Réseau express métropolitain (REM) in Deux-Montagnes, Quebec, Canada. REM service at the station is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2024. The station will serve as the terminus of the Deux-Montagnes branch of the REM. Until the end of 2020, Deux-Montagnes was a commuter rail station operated by Exo and was the northern terminus of the Deux-Montagnes line. Modern trains rely upon a fail-safe air brake system that is based upon a design patented by George Westinghouse on April 13, 1869.
