Mārtiņš Staķis
Mārtiņš Staķis (born 4 July 1979) is a Latvian politician and businessman, currently serving as Mayor of Riga since 2020. He served as a deputy of the 13th Saeima, the Latvian parliament, until he resigned on 5 June 2020. On 29 August 2020, Staķis was elected to the Riga City Council, and on 2 October, elected Mayor of Riga. Biography Staķis is the son of Dagnija Staķe, the former Minister of Regional Development and Local Governments of Latvia. He graduated from the Tukums Rainis Gymnasium in 2004 and obtained a bachelor's degree from the University of Latvia, specializing in municipal organization. He also studied at the Helsinki School of Economics in Finland. Staķis started his working life in a Narvesen kiosk and for more than a decade, from 1999 to 2010, worked as a marketing director. Mayor Of Riga
Riga City Council ( lv, Rīgas dome) is the government of the city of Riga, the capital of Latvia. Its meeting place is in the Riga Town Hall (''Rīgas rātsnams)'' at the Town Hall Square (''Rātslaukums'') in the very heart of Riga. Oļegs Burovs
Oļegs Burovs (born 8 August 1960, in Riga) is a Latvian politician who was the mayor of Riga from August 2019 to February 2020. He is a member of the Honor to serve Riga party and a member of the Riga City Council. Born in Riga in 1960, Burovs received a secondary medical education degree as a feldsher at the Riga 4th Medical School (now – RSU Red Cross Medical College) and a higher education diploma from the Academy of Labour and Social Relations in Moscow. After the restoration of the independence of Latvia he worked in the Ministry of Finance, the Privatisation Agency, municipal supply company Rīgas ūdens and various other private, municipal and state agencies and enterprises. MOT (charity)
MOT's life skills concept has five programmes which are offered to schools and municipalities on four continents – Europe, Africa, Asia and America. MOT originates from Norway. The initiative to start MOT was taken by the former Olympians and Norwegian speedskaters Atle Vårvik and Johann Olav Koss after the Olympic Winter Games in 1994. The Latvian National Guard or NG ( lv, Latvijas Republikas Zemessardze, ZS) is a part of the Latvian National Armed Forces. The National Guard is a basic land component, consisting of volunteers who perform traditional national guard duties such as crisis response and support for military operations. Tukums Rainis Gymnasium
Tukums (; german: Tuckum; liv, Tukāmō) is a town in the Zemgale region of Latvia. History The historical center of Tukums developed between trade routes leading from the mouth of the Daugava River to Prussia. The oldest part is today's Talsi Street that originated at the river named Zvirgzdupite where there used to be a castle mound with a wooden castle. Since 1253 Tukums was ruled by the Livonian Order. A masonry castle was built on the bank of the Slocene river in the end of the 13th century. The castle was surrounded by settlements of German tradesmen and craftsmen. A marketplace was formed in front of the castle and some new streets appeared later running in various directions from the marketplace.
