Møkster
Møkster is an island in Austevoll municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The island lies in an archipelago and it sits north of the islands of Litla Kalsøya, Stolmen, and Selbjørn; west of the islands of Drøna and Rostøya; and south of the islands of Horga, Stora Kalsøy and Hundvåko. The island had 65 inhabitants in 2001. The island lies in the central part of the Austevoll archipelago, and as such, it was an important location for the sea-faring people who populated the region. Møkster Church was located on the island from the middle ages until 1892 when it was torn down and the church was moved to the larger island of Stolmen (where it is still located today). Møkster Church
Stolmen Church ( no, Stolmen kyrkje; historic name: ) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Austevoll Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Kvalvåg on the island of Stolmen, although historically it was located on the small island of Møkster, hence the name. It is one of the five churches for the Austevoll parish which is part of the Fana prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1892 using plans drawn up by the architect Hans Heinrich Jess. The church seats about 320 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1306, but the church was not new that year. Austevoll is a municipality and an archipelago in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Midthordland in Western Norway. The administrative centre is the village of Storebø on the island of Huftarøy. Other villages include Årland, Austevollshella, Bakkasund, Bekkjarvik, Birkeland, Haukanes, Husavik, Kolbeinsvik, Otterå, Våge, and Vinnes. Stolmen
Stolmen is an island in Austevoll municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The island lies in a large archipelago just north of the Selbjørnsfjorden. The island of Selbjørn lies to the east, the islands of Huftarøy and Hundvåko lie to the northeast, and the islands of Stora Kalsøy, Litla Kalsøya, and Møkster lie to the north. The island had 206 inhabitants in 2007. The commercial centre of Stolmen is the village of Våge on the southern part of the island. Other villages on the island include Årland in the central part and Kvalvåg on the northern part. Møkster Church is located in the village of Kvalvåg. The Stolma Bridge connects the island of Stolmen to the neighboring island of Selbjørn. The highest point is the tall mountain Såta. The word "Såta" is the finite form of "såte" (meaning "haystack") since the shape of the mountain looks like the shape of a small cone-shaped haystack. Vestland
Vestland is a county in Norway established on 1 January 2020. The county is located in Western Norway and it is centred around the city of Bergen, Norway's second largest city. The administrative centre of the county is the city of Bergen, where the executive and political leadership is based, but the County Governor is based in Hermansverk. The county is one of two counties in Norway that have Nynorsk as their official written language form (the others are neutral as to which form people use).
