The Móra Ferenc Museum (6720 Szeged, Roosevelt tér 1-3.) is a museum in Szeged, Hungary. The museum stands at the intersection of the bank of the river Tisza and the city's Downtown Bridge. In addition to its seasonal exhibitions, archaeology, archaeological, ethnography, ethnographic, history, historical, and scientific research is conducted at the museum. The museum was founded in 1883, and the Neoclassical architecture, neoclassical building was opened in 1896. The institute was renamed in the honor of its former director, Móra Ferenc in 1950.(frpresentation on BNF/ref> The work of renowned artists Victor Vasarely and Tivadar Csontváry Kosztka have been displayed in the Móra Ferenc Museum, and in 2012, an exhibition featuring the works of Mihály Munkácsy became the museum's then most successful seasonal exhibition. Tivadar Csontváry Kosztka
Tivadar Csontváry Kosztka born ''Mihály Tivadar Kosztka'' (; 5 July 1853 – 20 June 1919) was a Hungarian painter who was part of the avant-garde movement of the early twentieth century. Working mostly in Budapest, he was one of the first Hungarian painters to become known in Europe. He belonged to no specific school of art, but his works included elements similar to those of the foremost painters of Post-impressionism. Many critics consider him Hungary’s greatest painter. On 15 December 2006 the Kieselbach Gallery in Budapest sold an auction the most expensive Csontváry painting so far. The ''Rendezvous'' (1902) ("Meeting of the lovers") was bought by an anonymous client for more than one million EUR. His works are held by the Hungarian National Gallery in Budapest and the Csontváry Museum in Pécs, among other institutions and private collectors.
