Máire Bradshaw
Máire Bradshaw (born 1943) is a writer, poet and publisher. Bradshaw was born in Limerick in 1943. She was educated in Laurel Hill convent before moving to Cork. There she got involved with the feminist movement. Bradshaw runs Bradshaw Books founded in 1985 as the Cork Women's Poetry Circle. Limerick ( ; ga, Luimneach ) is a western city in Ireland situated within County Limerick. It is in the province of Munster and is located in the Mid-West which comprises part of the Southern Region. Theo Dorgan (born 1953) is an Irish poet, writer and lecturer, translator, librettist and documentary screenwriter. He lives in Dublin. Life Dorgan was born in Cork in 1953 being second child born into a family of 8 boys and 8 girls to parents Bertie and Rosemary Dorgan, and was educated in North Monastery School. He completed a BA in English and Philosophy and a MA in English at University College Cork, after which he tutored and lectured in that University, while simultaneously Literature Officer with Triskel Arts Centre in Cork. He was visiting faculty at University of Southern Maine. He lives in Dublin with his partner, the poet and playwright Paula Meehan. Career After Theo Dorgan's first two collections, ''The Ordinary House of Love'' and ''Rosa Mundi'', went out of print, Dedalus Press reissued these two titles in a single volume ''What This Earth Cost Us''. Dympna Dreyer
Dymphna is a Christian saint honoured in Catholic and Eastern Orthodox traditions. According to tradition, she lived in the 7th century and was martyred by her father. The story of Dymphna was first recorded in the 13th century by a canon of the Church of Aubert of Avranches at Cambrai, France. It was commissioned by Guiard of Laon, the Bishop of Cambrai (1238-1248). The author expressly stated that his work was based upon a long-standing oral tradition as well as a persuasive history of miraculous healings of the mentally ill. Name Dymphna's name (pronounced or ) derives from the Irish ('poet') and suffix ''-ait'' ('little' or 'feminine'), therefore meaning 'poetess'. Mary Robinson
Mary Therese Winifred Robinson ( ga, Máire Mhic Róibín; ; born 21 May 1944) is an Irish politician who was the 7th president of Ireland, serving from December 1990 to September 1997, the first woman to hold this office. Prior to her election, Robinson was a senator in between 1969 and 1989, and a councilor on Dublin Corporation from 1979 to 1983. Though briefly affiliated with the Labour Party while a senator, she became the first independent candidate to win the presidency and the first not to have had the support of Fianna Fáil.
