Myrmoborus
''Myrmoborus'' is a genus of passerine birds in the antbird family, Thamnophilidae. The genus was erected by the German ornithologists Jean Cabanis and Ferdinand Heine in 1860 with the white-browed antbird as the type species. The genus name is a combination of two Greek words: ''murmos'', meaning "ant" and ''-boros'' (from "bibros"), meaning "-devouring". The genus contains five species: * White-browed antbird, ''Myrmoborus leucophrys'' (Tschudi, 1844) * Ash-breasted antbird, ''Myrmoborus lugubris'' (Cabanis, 1847) * Black-tailed antbird, ''Myrmoborus melanurus'' ( Sclater, PL & Salvin, 1866) * Black-faced antbird, ''Myrmoborus myotherinus'' ( Spix, 1825) * White-lined antbird, ''Myrmoborus lophotes'' (Hellmayr & Seilern, 1914) The white-lined antbird was previously placed in the genus ''Percnostola ''Percnostola'' is a genus of insectivorous passerine birds in the family Thamnophilidae. Black-faced Antbird
The black-faced antbird (''Myrmoborus myotherinus'') is a species of bird in subfamily Thamnophilinae of family Thamnophilidae, the "typical antbirds". It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. Taxonomy and systematics The black-faced antbird was described and illustrated by the German naturalist Johann Baptist von Spix in 1825 and given the binomial name ''Thamnophilus myotherinus''. The specific epithet is from the Ancient Greek ''muiothēras'' meaning "flyhunter". The black-faced antbird has these seven subspecies: *''M. m. elegans'' ( Sclater, PL, 1857) *''M. m. myotherinus'' ( Spix, 1825) *''M. m. incanus'' Hellmayr, 1929 *''M. m. ardesiacus'' Todd, 1927 *''M. m. proximus'' Todd, 1927 *''M. m. ochrolaemus'' (Hellmayr, 1906) *''M. m. sororius'' (Hellmayr, 1910) An eighth subspecies ''M. m. napensis'' has been proposed but as of 2024 it is considered to be included within ''M. m. elegans''.Zimmer, K. and M.L. Antbird
The antbirds are a large passerine bird family (biology), family, Thamnophilidae, found across subtropical and tropical Central and South America, from Mexico to Argentina. There are List of antbirds, more than 230 species, known variously as antshrikes, antwrens, antvireos, fire-eyes, bare-eyes and bushbirds. They are related to the antthrushes and antpittas (family Formicariidae), the tapaculos, the gnateaters and the Ovenbird (family), ovenbirds. Despite some species' common names, this family is not closely related to the wrens, vireos or shrikes. Antbirds are generally small birds with rounded wings and strong legs. They have mostly sombre grey, white, brown and rufous plumage, which is sexual dimorphism, sexually dimorphic in pattern and colouring. Some species communicate warnings to rivals by exposing white feather patches on their backs or shoulders. Most have heavy beak, bills, which in many species are hooked at the tip. Most species live in forests, although a few ar ...

Type Species
In zoological nomenclature, a type species (''species typica'') is the species name with which the name of a genus or subgenus is considered to be permanently taxonomically associated, i.e., the species that contains the biological type specimen(s). Article 67.1 A similar concept is used for suprageneric groups and called a type genus. In botanical nomenclature, these terms have no formal standing under the code of nomenclature, but are sometimes borrowed from zoological nomenclature. In botany, the type of a genus name is a specimen (or, rarely, an illustration) which is also the type of a species name. The species name that has that type can also be referred to as the type of the genus name. Names of genus and family ranks, the various subdivisions of those ranks, and some higher-rank names based on genus names, have such types.

Greek Language
Greek ( el, label=Modern Greek, Ελληνικά, Elliniká, ; grc, Ἑλληνική, Hellēnikḗ) is an independent branch of the Indo-European family of languages, native to Greece, Cyprus, southern Italy (Calabria and Salento), southern Albania, and other regions of the Balkans, the Black Sea coast, Asia Minor, and the Eastern Mediterranean. It has the longest documented history of any Indo-European language, spanning at least 3,400 years of written records. Its writing system is the Greek alphabet, which has been used for approximately 2,800 years; previously, Greek was recorded in writing systems such as Linear B and the Cypriot syllabary. The alphabet arose from the Phoenician script and was in turn the basis of the Latin, Cyrillic, Armenian, Coptic, Gothic, and many other writing systems. The Greek language holds a very important place in the history of the Western world. Beginning with the epics of Homer, ancient Greek literature includes many works of lasting impo ...

Passerine
A passerine () is any bird of the order Passeriformes (; from Latin 'sparrow' and '-shaped'), which includes more than half of all bird species. Sometimes known as perching birds, passerines are distinguished from other orders of birds by the arrangement of their toes (three pointing forward and one back), which facilitates perching. With more than 140 families and some 6,500 identified species, Passeriformes is the largest clade of birds and among the most diverse clades of terrestrial vertebrates, representing 60% of birds.Ericson, P.G.P. et al.
