Dr Myriam Francois is an award-winning Franco-Irish journalist, filmmaker and writer. Her work has appeared on BBC, Channel 4, Al Jazeera, and numerous other outlets and publications. Myriam is the founder and CEO of production companmpwr productions which specialises in documentary films which center minoritised voices. Clive Myrie (born 25 August 1964) is a British journalist, newsreader and presenter who works for the BBC. Since August 2021 he has been the host of the long-running BBC quiz shows ''Mastermind'' and '' Celebrity Mastermind''. Early life Myrie was born on 25 August 1964 in Bolton, Lancashire, England, to Jamaican immigrant parents, who came to the United Kingdom in the 1960s. His uncle Cecil was a munitions driver in the Royal Air Force during the war. His mother was a seamstress who worked for Mary Quant, while his father Norris was a factory worker who made car batteries and carpets. His parents are divorced, and his father returned to Jamaica following his retirement. Bradford Literature Festival
The Bradford Literature Festival (sometimes abbreviated to BLF) is a spoken and written word event that promotes literature and is held for ten days annually over June and July in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. The first event was held in 2014 and was attended by 968 people; by the time of the 2018 event, the attendance had risen to over 70,000. The event is noted for its attendance by minority groups and writers, with over 50% of attendees coming from BAME backgrounds. History The Festival was started by Syima Aslam and Irna Qureshi in 2014 for a weekend. Hay-on-Wye ( cy, Y Gelli Gandryll), simply known locally as "Hay" ( cy, Y Gelli), is a market town and community in Powys, Wales; it was historically in the county of Brecknockshire. HowTheLightGetsIn Festival is a philosophy and music festival, hosted by the Institute of Art and Ideas. It aims "to get philosophy out of the academy and into people's lives" by bringing together philosophers, writers, academics, comedians and musicians for a festival of debate, talks, music, workshops, and late night parties.
