Mykolaiv
Mykolaiv ( uk, Миколаїв, ) is a List of cities in Ukraine, city and List of hromadas of Ukraine, municipality in Southern Ukraine, the Administrative centre, administrative center of the Mykolaiv Oblast. Mykolaiv city, which provides Ukraine with access to the Black Sea, is the location of the most downriver bridge crossing of the Southern Bug river. This city is one of the main shipbuilding centers of the Black Sea. Aside from three shipyards within the city, there are a number of research centers specializing in shipbuilding such as the State Research and Design Shipbuilding Center, Zoria-Mashproekt and others. As of 2021, the city has a population of Mykolaiv holds the honorary title Hero City of Ukraine. Mykolaiv Oblast
Mykolaiv Oblast ( uk, Микола́ївська о́бласть, translit=Mykoláyivsʹka óblastʹ, ), also referred to as Mykolaivshchyna ( uk, Микола́ївщина, Mykoláivshchyna, ) is an oblast (province) of Ukraine. The administrative center of the oblast is the city of Mykolaiv. At the most recent estimate, the population of the oblast stood at . History During the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Russian army invaded the province from Kherson Oblast, attacking as far northwest as Voznesensk. However, at Voznesensk, the Russian forces were repulsed, and the attempt to take Mykolaiv also ended in failure. From April 2022, almost all of the province was under Ukrainian control, apart from the extreme south-east and the Kinburn peninsula. Mykolaiv Raion ( uk, Миколаївський район) is located in Mykolaiv Oblast of Ukraine. Its administrative center is the city of Mykolaiv. Population: History In the 19th century, the area belonged to Kherson Governorate. In December 1920, it was renamed Nikolayev Governorate, and in 1921 it was merged into Odessa Governorate. In 1923, governorates were abolished in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. In 1923, Mykolaiv Raion of Mykolaiv Okruha, with the administrative center in Mykolaiv, was established. Mykolayiv Regional Museum Of Local History
Mykolayiv Regional Museum of Local History ''“Staroflotski Barracks”'' is one of the oldest museums in Ukraine. It was established on 15 (28) December 1913. Museum history The museum's history begins in 1803 in Mykolaiv. One of the founders of the museum was Admiral de Traverse. For more than 40 years the museum had collected valuable works of the craftsmen from the whole region. Eyewitnesses who visited museum in the early 19th century proved that museum, accept the ancient archaeological sites, has contained minerals, shells, stuffed animals, ethnographic exhibits. Also there were maps, plans of cities, buildings and ship models. The collection was traditional for that time – here the natural artifacts were located near the ancient. In 30 years of 19th century the objects from the museum were transmitted to Odessa, Kherson and Kerch, and only a small part of the exhibits remained in Mykolaiv Region. An oblast ( uk, о́бласть; ) in Ukraine, often called a region or province, is the main type of first-level administrative division of the country. Raions of Ukraine (often translated as "districts"; Ukrainian: ра́йон, tr. ''raion''; plural: райо́ни, tr. ''raiony'') are the second level of administrative division in Ukraine, below the oblast. Raions were created in a 1922 administrative reform of the Soviet Union, to which Ukraine, as the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, belonged. Museum Of Shipbuilding And The Fleet
The Museum of Shipbuilding and Fleet ( ua, Музей суднобудування і флоту), the only museum of Shipbuilding in Ukraine, is situated in Mykolaiv, Ukraine. History of the museum Ancient House, where museum is situated, is a monument of history and architecture of the late 18th – early 19th century. Built in the style of the Russian classicism, it served as chancery and premises of the main commanders of the Black Sea Fleet during 1794–1900. In due time such admirals as M. S. Mordvinov, I. Hero City of Ukraine () is a Ukrainian honorary title awarded for outstanding heroism during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.
