Mykola Karpyuk
Mykola Karpyuk ( uk, Микола Андронович Карпюк, Mykola Andronovych Karpyuk) is a Ukrainian political activist and former vice leader of the UNA-UNSO as well as a member of the central council of the Right Sector. In May 2016, Karpyuk was accused of participating in the First Chechen War and sentenced to 22.5 years in prison. Russian civil rights society Memorial recognized him as a political prisoner. Biography Karpyuk was the chairman of the Rivne cell of the Ukrainian National Assembly. In 1992, he participated in the Transnistria War on the side of Transnistria and in the War in Abkhazia, in 1993, he fought on the side of Georgia. He took part in the Ukrainian parliamentary elections of 1998 and 2002 for UNA-UNSO, but the party did not go to the Verkhovna Rada both times. In 2001-2002, there was a split within the UNA-UNSO. Velykyi Zhytyn (, russian: Великий Житин, pl, Żytyń Wielki) is a village in the Ukrainian Rivne Oblast with about 1200 inhabitants (2006). The village was mentioned in 1518 in an act of the King of Poland Sigismund I the Old. Ukraine Without Kuchma
Ukraine without Kuchma ( uk, Україна без Кучми; ''Ukrayina bez Kuchmy'', Russian: Украина без Кучмы, UBK) was a mass protest campaign that took place in Ukraine in 2000–2001, demanding the resignation of President Leonid Kuchma, and preceding the Orange Revolution. Unlike the Orange Revolution, Ukraine without Kuchma was effectively extinguished by the government enforcement units, and followed by numerous arrests of the opposition and the Ukrainian-speaking participants. Seeking the criminal responsibility for those events was renewed with the election of Viktor Yanukovych as the President of Ukraine.
