Mykola Hnatyuk
Mykola Vasylyovych Hnatyuk or Mykola Vasyliovych Hnatiuk ( uk, Микола Васильович Гнатюк; born 14 September 1952) is a Soviet, Ukrainian singer, popular in the early 1980s. In 1979 he won the Grand Prix at the Dresden Pop Music Festival with David Tukhmanov's ''I Dance With You'' (russian: link=no, Я с тобой танцую). A year later ''Dancing on the Drum'' (russian: link=no, Танец на барабане, penned by Raimonds Pauls) brought Hnatyuk the 1980 Sopot Intervision Song Contest Grand Prix,He scored 36 ponts and shared the first place with four other performers: Marion Rung (Finland, ''Where Is the Love''), Marika Gombitova (Czechoslovakia, ''I Want to Share with You''), Jigsaw (UK, ''Sky High'') and Vox (Poland, ''Banana Song'') and made him famous at home. People's Artist Of The Ukrainian SSR
People's Artist of Ukraine is an honorary and the highest title awarding to outstanding performing artists whose merits are exceptional in the sphere of the development of the performing arts (theatre, music, dance, circus, cinema, etc.). Established in 1922 during Soviet times, it was technically called People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (Народний артист УРСР). With the establishment of independent Ukraine, this tradition was kept and the title was renamed as People's Artist of Ukraine (Народний артист України). Its recipients include many of the most highly acclaimed composers, dancers, singers, musicians, film and theatre directors, actors, circus performers, etc. During Soviet times, a person was usually named People's Artist only after reaching the age of 40. Jigsaw (British Band)
Jigsaw was an English pop rock band best known for their 1975 hit "Sky High". The band was fronted by the singer-songwriter duo of Clive Scott and Des Dyer for most of its life. Following Scott's death in 2009, it has been the platform for Dyer's solo work. In Australia, the group was called "British Jigsaw" due to the existence of an Australian band of the same name. Aleksandra Nikolayevna Pakhmutova (russian: Александра Николаевна Пахмутова ; born 9 November 1929) is a Soviet and Russian composer. She has remained one of the best-known figures in Soviet and later Russian popular music since she first achieved fame in her homeland in the 1960s. She was awarded the People's Artist of the USSR in 1984. Biography She was born on November 9, 1929 in Beketovka (now a neighborhood in Volgograd), Russian SFSR, Soviet Union, and began playing the piano and composing music at an early age.
