Myklebust Ship
The Myklebust Ship ( Norwegian: Myklebustskipet) is the remains of a burned Viking ship that was found in the burial mound Rundehågjen on the farm Myklebust in Nordfjordeid, Norway. The Myklebust ship is the largest Viking ship that has been discovered in Norway. Excavation The archaeologist Anders Lorange traveled to Nordfjordeid from Bergen in 1874 to investigate the large burial mound locally called “Rundehågjen” or “Lisje Skjoratippen”. The mound stands on the Myklebust farm, a farm which used to house 5 burial mounds, and is believed to have been the home of a Viking Dynasty, lead by among others the Viking King Audbjørn Frøybjørnson of the Firda Kingdom. The mound was approximately 30 meters in diameter, and almost 4 meters tall. It also had a wide moat around it. Gaute is a Norwegian masculine given name derived from the Old Norse ''Gauti'', which is formed by the word ''gautr'', i.e. "man from Götaland (Gautaland) in Sweden" or, even earlier, "Goths". Ole Jørn Myklebust (born 30 April 1977 in Eidsdal, Norway) is a Norwegians, Norwegian Jazz musician (trumpet, flugelhorn and vocals), educated at the Norges Musikkhøgskole. Known for performing in Subtonic (band), Subtonic, Sigurd Køhn, Køhn/Nils-Olav Johansen, Johansen Sextet, Geir Lysne Listening Ensemble, Østenfor Sol and Dixi (band), Dixi, Myklebust has collaborated with Mari Boine and Unni Wilhelmsen. Career Myklebust was voted "The Best Young Jazz Musicians in Norway" in 2000. He has also played with the band Østenfor Sol, in addition to Mari Boine's and Unni Wilhelmsen's bands. Myklebust also works as composer, musical arranger and producer. He has composed music for TV, film, and documentaries. He came in as a substitute on the trumpet with Mike del Ferro Quintet, with among others Anne Paceo (drums), on their Norway tour in January 2012. Merete Myklebust (born 16 May 1973 in Ålesund) is a former Norwegian footballer, world champion, and olympic medalist. Einar Myklebust
Einar Frithjof Myklebust (17 May 1922 – 9 June 2017), was a Norwegian architect and professor at NTH (now ( NTNU). Einar Myklebust worked between 1953–1964 together with the architect Gunnar Fougner. He was professor from 1964–1970 in Byggekunst IV (monumental architecture), architecture department, Norwegian Institute of Technology (now Norwegian University of Science and Technology), Trondheim. From 1970 he worked for the newly founded architectural firm Arkiplan in Trondheim. After a few years, he moved to Stavanger, where he has his own practice. Myklebust designed the Edvard Munch Museum in Oslo, Norway with Fougner and played a large role in the renovation and expansion that took place in 1994, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Munch's death. Myklebust made his debut as an artist in 1995. As an artist, he is self-taught. Since his debut, he has been exhibited both at home and abroad.
