Myitta
Myitta Subtownship ( my, မေတ္တာမြို့နယ်ခွဲ) is a subtownship of Dawei District in the Taninthayi Division of Myanmar. The main town is Myitta (Matamyu), located on the western side of the Tenasserim Range near the confluence of two tributaries of the Great Tenasserim River. History At the time of the 1765–67 Burmese–Siamese War (1765–67), Burmese–Siamese War General Maha Nawrahta of the Royal Burmese armed forces led his 20,000-strong main southern army to invade Siam via the Myitta Pass. During the Japanese conquest of Burma, the forces of the Imperial Japanese Army began their invasion crossing the Tenasserim Hills through Myitta Pass from Thailand. In the night of 17/18 January 1942 they attacked Myitta town. The three Burma Rifles, 6th Burma Rifles companies of the Tavoy garrison posted there were not able to put up resistance and fled into the forests. Great Tenasserim River
The Great Tenasserim River or the Tanintharyi River is a major river of southeastern Burma. It flows through the Tanintharyi Region, past the town of Tanintharyi, and enters the sea at Myeik (Mergui). The river rises from the Tenasserim Range at an altitude of , and flows into the Andaman Sea. The region formed by this river is also known as Tenasserim, or Tanintharyi in Burmese. It is in a constricted coastal region in southeastern Myanmar (formerly Burma), which borders Thailand on the east and the Andaman Sea on the west. Royal Burmese Armed Forces

Burma Rifles
The Burma Rifles were a British colonial regiment raised in Burma. Founded in 1917 as a regiment of the British Indian Army, the regiment re-used the name of an unrelated earlier unit, the 10th Regiment (1st Burma Rifles) Madras Infantry, which evolved into the 10th Princess Mary's Own Gurkha Rifles. After Burma was formally separated from India, the regiment was allocated to Burma. Following Burma's independence from Britain in 1948, the regiment was absorbed into the new Burmese army.
