Japan Golf Tour
The Japan Golf Tour ( ja, 日本ゴルフツアー機構) is a prominent golf tour. It was founded in 1973 and as of 2006 it offers the third-highest annual prize fund out of the regular (that is not for seniors) men's professional tours after the PGA Tour and the European Tour. However, since the early 1990s, the growth in prize money has not kept pace with that on the two larger tours. Official events on the Japan Golf Tour count for World Golf Ranking points, and success on the tour can also qualify members to play in the majors. Most of the leading players on the tour are Japanese, but players from many other countries also participate. The tour is currently run by the Japan Golf Tour Organization (JGTO), which was established in 1999 to separate the tour from the PGA of Japan. Singapore Open (golf)
The Singapore Open was a golf tournament in Singapore that was predominantly part of the Asian Tour schedule. The event was held at Sentosa Golf Club since 2005 and since 2017 had been part of the Open Qualifying Series, giving up to four non-exempt players entry into The Open Championship. The Singapore Open was founded in 1961 and was one of the tournaments on the first season of the Far East Circuit (later the Asia Golf Circuit) the following year. It remained part of the Asia circuit until 1993 when it became a fixture on the Australasian Tour. After just 3 seasons, it left the Australasian Tour to join the fledgling Asian Tour for that tour's second season in 1996. This is a list of the 1967 PGA Tour Qualifying School graduates. Tournament summary The tournament was played over 144 holes at the PGA National Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida in mid-October. The field of 111 was considered to have a number of "star" amateur golfers. These included Deane Beman, Bob Murphy, Ron Cerrudo, Marty Fleckman, and Bunky Henry. In addition, the field included Lee Elder, "whom many are predicting will be the first top-ranking Negro player." A number of notable international golfers played. The 1980 World Cup took place 11–14 December 1980 at the El Rincon Golf Club in Bogotá, Colombia. It was the 28th World Cup event. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 45 teams. Each team consisted of two players from a country. 50 countries originally entered the four-day competition, but Jamaica, Uruguay and the Dominican Republic all withdrew shortly before the start. The World Cup of Golf is a men's golf tournament contested by teams of two representing their country. Only one team is allowed from each country. The players are selected on the basis of the Official World Golf Ranking, although not all of the first choice players choose to compete. The equivalent event for women was the Women's World Cup of Golf, played from 2005 to 2008. History The tournament was founded by Canadian industrialist John Jay Hopkins, who hoped it would promote international goodwill through golf.
